Loging in with Amazon

Ok, first off, till today, I’ve never had an issue checking out of Woot for a purchase. I use my Amazon Prime account login and bam!, one click, done.

Today, I get the typical OTP code needed to check out. Type in code. Then, it throws up a “whats the phone number …” WTH? The last two digits is NOTHING belonging to me. So, I can log into my amazon account no problem. On line Woot, no problem. But using the app on my phone and it wants to play 20 questions with the 2nd question not being anything I’m aware of And there’s no place when I log in online to even change other then my listed phone on my account. So, I’m probably going to miss out on the deal I wanted, but Woot, how about you figure out that the hick happened to my account and why all of sudden you are razzing for a phone number that isn’t mine.

Hi there. That’s odd. Amazon owns the the payment widget so it’s possible they added something. Could you share some screen shots? You can PM them to me.

I’ve changed my security settings/passwords, etc. I setup a Keypass w/amazon. Bottom line, I’ve made enough security changes, I can’t duplicate it again. I even removed and reinstalled my woot app and put it in my secure folders on the phone. I’m going to just keep an eye out for any odd activity. Next time I buy something and check out with Amazon Pay, I’ll see if it pops up again. It was odd that after I typed in the OTP number, it said it had “one more question to ask” and it was the question about the phone number that ended in 15, which I don’t have. Thanks for getting back.

One staffer said they got a similar question when they were also logged into another Amazon site such as AWS, Seller Central (if you’re a seller), etc. Any chance that was the case here?

OMG, I’m not alone! The same thing is happening to me. The number they’re wanting me to verify is not a number I’ve had before. It works fine using a browser, but I can’t buy from the app!

Try logging out of everything - browser, amazon, app, etc.

I have. I just got a new phone and I was hoping it would be different, but no such luck.

Do you have any other Amazon-ish accounts - like do you sell on Amazon… lot out of anything there. Anything else that uses an Amazon login or pay.

Nope, I don’t sell anything. I only use Amazon Pay on Woot. Such an odd thing. I’ve never had issues before!

Could you pls try uninstalling the app, rebooting your phone, and reinstalling?

Didn’t fix it. Here is what I’m seeing. Never had that phone number.

Update: Could you please reach out to Amazon support to see what they say. We use their widget so they own the code. We just send and receive. We’re hoping they can look into it.

We also reached out to Amazon but we’ve been waiting for quite a while for a response. :frowning:

Instead of logging in with the email , login with the phone number that’s tied to the Amazon account for some reason it changes the login steps
