I wouldn’t mind trying one, but $17 for some cherries is a lot. It’s too bad all maraschino cherries aren’t made this way. (No corn syrup or artificial color)
They’re normally more than $20, so it’s a good deal. But probably only worth it if you’re really into cocktails or certain desserts.
I’ve been trying different brands from around the world and such because we live on one of the original maraschino cherry orchards in the US, and we have three maraschino cherry brand or whatnot (the right species of cherry to make them from the 50s), and I want to try to make our own from scratch.
If you’re into luxurious ice creams and what not, I recommend amaro cherries, if you’re into a delicious garnish on cocktails these are super worth it despite the price difference, but they’re not like most cherries today in sugar syrup and red no 5.
This is a good deal on them, and it’s something I’d recommend splurging on at least once a lifetime.
I’ve made my own brandied cherries before.
Pretty straight forward. Bought local organic cherries. Place into mason jars with brandy and steep cool/dark for awhile and top off if needed. I’ve done batches with a little simple syrup during infusion and added after. Store in the frig.
This is a good starter size if you’ve never tried them.
It has an intense, sweet flavor that pairs well with dark chocolate.
Even though there is a lot of sugar here, your 1st “hit” is a rich cherry flavor, not sugar.
Would like to try making my own chocolate cherry cordial with these.
If you get addicted & want to expand your cherry horizons, Amazon had a nice deal on Luxardo & Toschi Amarena cherries. Can’t link now as when I left the site the price went up.
May try later.
This is the only brand my son in law uses! His thing is OlfdFashioneds and other craft cocktails. He said you cant get them any cheaper than on here. Unless you can catch a bulk pack at Costco
Personally, I don’t think “balance” is the right word.
The cherries are strongly sweet without being cloying… but the sauce… the sauce is cloying and has a pronounced sour bite. Definitely do not have these straight.
Bought another one.
Really good.
Thinking about a red/white/blue thing for the 4th with our home grown blueberries & vanilla ice cream.
