Memobird G2 Thermal Inkless Printer

Memobird G2 Thermal Inkless Printer

This seems like a scam only some people would fall for . . .

$10 for three rolls of thermal paper, so far. Can’t say I have a use case. I text my wife and kid on their phones.

I actually bought one the last time they were on here about a month ago - love it! Wish they had had the gray then. Despite my carrying a phone, I am still a list person and my husband always wants a written list if I send him to the store (and he ultimately loses it and then I don’t have a copy). MemoBird retains a copy in memory til you delete it and you can go in and edit those in memory. We also have renters. Most pay in cash because that’s how they get paid - so they want a receipt and I can do one on Memobird and go in the next month and I will just add next month’s when we receive it and print. By the end of the year both the renter and ourselves will have a list of how much paid and when. (Which is more “bookkeeping” than my husband ever did!!!)

I have found the color and white sticker paper and have ordered. I work from home and am an independent contractor for a number of companies throughout the year. (High end retail, software tech support etc) For each I temporarily have a ton of sticky notes all over my work area for various prompts when I am on a call - and normally different colors for different kinds of issues - so this will be great for that as well.

I’m sure I’ll find more uses!

***I forgot to add, that most of the papers are rated to last 5-7 years as long as they are not the thin cheaper register rolls.

Regular handling of thermal paper exposes you to BPA.

The paper that comes pre-loaded is BPA free and quite a lot of the papers you can purchase for it are also BPA free as well. I did not have any problem finding plain or colored, in regular & stickers all in BPA free.

What type/brand of paper can be used? I am thinking of giving one to my Mother in assisted living, that way she will be able to see times and dates for visits, etc. This looks like a great idea. I would want the sticky paper. What do you suggest?

Many of the one-star comments say that isn’t the North American version, but the Chinese version.

Is this the case?

I had a thermal printer for my Timex-Sinclair 8 bit computer in 1983.

Is this paper recyclable?

If I were going to spend $35 on something so affected just to be able to print out to-do lists, from my phone, I’d waste that money on a somewhat nice fountain pen. So, Woot, please see what you can do abut enabling me with my fountain pen problem. Meanwhile, I’ll be here clutching my hypothetical pearls and lamenting that no one can read cursive.

You can instantly draw realistic photographs with a fountain pen? Cool dude!

I’ve had mine about 2 years. The app is annoying but works if you have the patience to set it up. My sister has one too and we randomly send photos to each other. It’s cool. I like using it to copy recipes to print out. Makes it easier to read vs navigating the million apps and chrome tabs I have open on my phone.

Be careful, the app has crashed on me and lost all history. I’d advise you to keep hard copys of your receipts for yourself.

2.25 inches by what length paper fits this printer?

There are actually a lot of “brands” to search on Amazon besides Memobird:
Cubinote
Paperang
Peripage
Aibecy
Fimax
Kaokee

And with any of the above add adhesive or sticker. Check individual listings to see if they say BPA free if that is a concern for you.

For the the benefit of any others who may see this, those above companies have a variety of pastel and brights (in both sticker and plain), transparent and semi-transparent, white paper that prints in bright blue or navy (so not limited to black!), metallic silver and gold (those only have about a 2 yr life), one makes an actual photo paper that does a nice black & white print. I also found actual labels in several colors. White paper can be matte or glossy and the same for white sticker paper (matte or glossy). I am sure I’ve forgotten some and there are probably some I have yet to discover. Prices vary widely so it pays to spend a bit to time initially to locate the best deals and save to your cart then “save for later”.

I know 70’ is OK and I’ve read on other sites you can go up to the 75’ and 80’ rolls BUT I don’t have any that large to test that.

“We”?

If by that, you mean it’s says “Made in China” on the underside - then, yes, mine that was purchased via Woot approx 1 month prior to THIS sale does say that.

If you are trying to avoid all products manufactured in China, remember this -

  1. The U.S. is not currently able to manufacture everything we “want”.
  2. Many U.S. businesses, large and small, are still holding inventory (products) that were made in China pre-COVID19 that they NEED to sell. They have paid for it and in order to remain in business, MUST sell what they have on hand before they will have funds to purchase new American made products to replace them.

I am certainly not going to punish some poor small business owner, or Woot when they need to divest themselves of such product in order to carry American made. And besides, since it’s inception, Woot has always been about leftovers, odd lots and discontinued merchandise in order to get good deals. So what’s the problem???:rofl::rofl:

Love the recipe idea! I may have to buy a couple more of these! Woot thanks you, my credit card does not!:rofl::rofl:
