how has this not sold out yet?
Curse you woot. I’ve waited all day for this to sell out. Add a couple sodas this evening and I had to buy. Another woot the wife won’t understand, much like the three screaming monkeys the children are afraid of…
Wow, 3412 sold. They had tons.
Aww, i’m sorry that this didn’t sell out. I look forward to seeing it in the next woot-off bundled with the snowman speaker.

No widescreen
[/quote]
Of course there’s no widescreen. It’s a show from the early-mid 80’s, and wasn’t filmed in widescreen. Widescreen wasn’t used for TV shows until the late 90’s, and even then for only a few shows. Stereo sound for TV was the big new thing at the time. It is presented in the 4x3 aspect ratio in which it was filmed, originally shown, and should always be shown in.

Too all the total idiots saying “DURR HURR THIS WAS BEFORE WIDESCREEN DURRRRRRR”, this program and almost all programs before the mid 90s were shot on reel film, which is inherently adaptable to widescreen 16:9 format, whereas the video you have here on DVD was
C
R
O
P
P
E
D
to fit the 4:3 standard definition format. If these were taken from the film masters instead of probably hi grade tape copies, then they would probably be in widescreen format.

Tsk tsk tsk…make sure you actually understand the aspect ratio of a film frame before blasting everyone for it. A 35mm film frame is 1.37:1 aspect ratio. Ditto 70mm. Therefore, FORCING it to be widescreen would mean…CROPPING it to make it so.
Yes, this was shot on film. Yes, the aspect ratio is correct. No, you would gain nothing, but rather lose about 25% of the original image to force it to fit a 16x9 ratio.
Yes, MOVIES were widescreen, not TV shows. Movies weren’t even widescreen until the mid-50’s. Widescreen didn’t begin on TV until the late 90’s.
No idea where you saw Wizard of Oz in widescreen, but that was a movie from 1938 and was most definitely 4x3. Even the new Blu-ray edition is 4x3, pillarboxed within a 16x9 frame (which is the correct way to watch 4x3 material on a 16x9 display).
Reel film has many aspect ratio’s. This may have been shot in widescreen or maybe not. I would be Wooting for joy if the original stock was widescreen.
I used to have the Miami Vice soundtrack on CD but lost it. Maybe it can be Wooted for cheap.
I remember this series, and on my Tivo, I have programmed this show to auto-record in case ANY station ever starts re-running this show again… Actually years ago USA (I believe) re-ran this series for a while, and SOMEWHERE in the dark recesses of VHS tapes I WON’T let go of I have tapes of these re-run episodes… Guess it’s time to clean out the closets and find these…
Wow, when I grow up, I want to have tastes just like yours.
Mine showed up today.
Pretty impressive showing, Woot! Now if only I wasn’t dealing with the headcold from hell and felt like checking it out…

BEST Woot! purchase EVER.
let me 'splain… BF told me there are only 2 tv shows worth watching- MV and Babylon:5. I’m a dedicated Trek girl, myself (well, TNG and DS9). B:5 has never been my cup of tea.
I got this for him, and he’s happier than a pig in Congress. No longer do I have to sit through subpar scifi teevee.
BLESS YOUR HEART, WOOT!
