Buyer beware.

I purchased this one a few months ago. After being activated, the code was suddenly no longer valid on the same PC I originally activated it.

Woot service said I’m outside of the limited warranty window and now I’m stuck with a useless code.

Similar story to above - I purchased two previously and neither code was valid. Initially said I was outside the window for replacement, then I got an email from support that said I would receive new codes. BUT - that email never came and there was no response from support when I inquired about it. You mileage may vary.

Hi there. Did you check your order history? I see an additional set of keys there.

:exploding_head:
Thank you for bringing that to my attention! I never got an email with additional keys, and since they were buried down in the order history with the original order I didn’t notice. I’ll see if I can get those new ones working. Thanks again!

Well, Guess what …
The two additional product keys are not valid, just like the original two. I double-checked I was in the right place with Microsoft and the keys are not recognized. Thanks for trying though.

Wonder if there are any stats on the percentage of key validation failures on these.

One problem with all these Office products from Woot is that the downloadable images are only for the 32-bit versions. Multiple emails to Woot Customer Service and still no explanation or resolution on how or whether one can get the 64-bit versions.

Hello. From the vendor:

“The img file contains both 32bit and 64bit setup executables. The installer should default to the 64bit if the OS supports it. If the user is running a 32bit OS or has other Microsoft apps installed as 32bit then the installer may force a 32bit install. If the latter was what’s happening here, then uninstalling the old 32bit apps and installing office again should install 64bit.

Alternatively, they can uninstall the old 32bit, mount the img file, go to the Office folder, and manually select the 64bit executable.”

I thought this was a legit MS Office product. You’re downloading a “disc image file” from who knows where. My PC can’t even run it, it’s not a normal .exe. Messaging Woot to get my money back, otherwise I’ll get it from my bank.

The files are from Microsoft.

And the instructions detail how to mount the disc image file. It’s not meant to be run like a regular .exe file.

(Please note: I don’t work for Woot, I just volunteer to help out here on the forums.)

You guys don’t talk to each other? Another Woot CS representative finally sent me an email confirming that the images only support 32-bit versions.

A) I’m not customer service

B) I sent the question to our buyer who asked our vendor.

C) I’m guessing that the CS rep made a miscalculated educated guess.

Do any of the codes work with Mac? I’m thinking I can download the original software (Mac version) from Microsoft but use the code from woot for installation. Had anyone tried this?

No, the codes are different for PC vs Mac.

Figured as much but wanted to ask.

For anyone interested in getting this, it does work BUT you have to jump through some hoops: After trying the normal route of downloading the software from MS repeatedly without success and being told it was an invalid key everytime i finally came back to the sale page and followed the directions and suddenly things worked. I wish that on the woot sale page it was a little more clear that you HAVE to download it this way to work… no telling if i will have the same issues as some of the people above seemed to have had. Only time will tell. The next time this offer comes up if ive had issues ill make a new post for others to read

I bought 2 keys and both worked perfectly. They keys came in an email after 2 days. I downloaded office 64bit and entered the keys on each of our laptops. No issues at all.
