I had the same thing happen to me. I bought a Windows 11 Pro key from Woot earlier this year (for $49.99!) but didn’t try to activate it until after 90 days. It said “Invalid key” when I did.
Woot customer service told me to pound salt when I contacted them because it was past the 90 days. I argued that they are selling counterfeit keys but it didn’t matter, no refund.
Those “instructions” just take you to the Microsoft page for downloading Windows 11. (Which is exactly what I have installed on my PC, and it’s pretty insistent that this product key isn’t valid.)
Beware. I bought microsoft products license keys through woot before twice. Both times provided keys failed upon activation. Woot customer service referred me to microsoft and microsoft referred me back to the seller. Microsoft stated that the keys are counterfeited.
I’m perplexed why Woot still hasn’t resolved this even after multiple times selling these keys.
Knowing that this loophole for upgrade from Windows 7/8 to Windows 10/11 is closed based on reading the posts on why they’re Win7/8 keys, Woot should ask this seller if they’re still selling Windows 7/8 keys… and if so, either tell them to change to selling to Win10/11 keys or just drop them.
I brought it from Woot months ago (3 of them as I got them for future builds) and they all didn’t work. If I hadn’t decided to start my PC build earlier, I would be SOL and gotten no refund.
Bought Windows 11 Home last night. Got code this morning and it won’t activate. The code is “valid” but only for Windows 7 Pro and it’s not accepting the code as an upgrade. May have done away with the free upgrades from Win7? I called Microsoft to find out about the code now I need to get a refund from Woot! This discount deal was not worth it to me.
Bought Win 11 Pro, got key, tried to paste it in. Settings crashed multiple times. Tried to enter key via kbd and activation was successful. Odd that some keys work and some seemingly don’t.
Late to the comment party, I bought 3 Pro keys and haven’t touched them. After checking these comments I went to check them with ShowKeyPlus off the Windows store and they all come back as:
“Edition: Win 10 RTM Professional OEM:DM” which will allow a valid windows 11 pro install.
I’ll be formatting in a few days and let you know.
Here’s my experience. I bought an 11 Pro key earlier this year in April. Then I used it on a home-built desktop system in October and activated no problem. I just bought another one from this sale and used it on an older laptop. Ran into some hiccups but in the end was able to activate no problem as well.
I bought a Windows 11 Home. Made my install media usb like the instructions say, 1 day later Windows says my code is invalid and I need to activate with a legit code. Don’t buy this trash.
