I ordered one of these last year, and it was a Win7 key so did not work (outside Woot return window too).
Anyone had luck with these recently?
There’s another thread about this going around!
Nope it’s still a scam!
SCAM SCAM SCAM!! THESE ARE ILLIGITIMATE KEYS! THEY WILL NOT WORK OR ARE SUPER OLD! AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID!
so what’s the general consensus - scam or not? a lot of reviews seem to say it works fine if you create a usb boot drive with the os download from the windows website on a new computer. i’m planning on building a new gaming pc later this year and this would be a good deal…
Some of them are windows 8 and 7 keys. Some might actually work. Most won’t, and Microsoft will not help you because you didn’t purchase a legitimate key. Mine did not work at all. When I asked Woot about it they sent me instructions in email with a “universal key” that was somehow MORE illegitimate than the one they sold me. Confirmed with MS that it is shady and dishonest.
it’s seems so odd that not only can you just sell shady microsoft keys on amazon (i’m sure it’s hard for them to keep up with all the odd stuff third-party people are selling), but that woot would pick it up and sell it here too. like is someone just sitting out there with a keygen raking in $20-25 at a time with no consequences?
My experience [not here] from a while back is that somebody buys a “bulk license” intended for an office and they try to sell the rights off one at a time. Either MS gets wise to this or they end up selling more licenses than they actually owned and get caught.
Funny how entire European city governments get by just fine with free, open-source Libre Office.
No. Last time for me, the key was blacklisted for activation. Did the USB install method but it just would not activate. Error codes indicated it was invalidated for activation. Thankfully, Woot did refund it. Short story short.
Don’t do it! I fell for this a couple of months ago and was luckily able to get a refund.
I read the reviews and comments and thought I’d take a chance anyway. It was not worth it.
Thread from late November here:
May I ask why Woot continues to sell these when all comments are always negative? Do these keys actually work for anybody? I recently received a MacBook Pro with an Intel i7 processor which I read can also run Windows so I have been checking the reviews every time they pop up and they’re always all negative but why would Woot continue selling them if they don’t work? If anyone from Woot could shed some light, I would appreciate it as well as any other potential buyers. Thanks
Yes, I’m also interested in an answer to this question… I thought woot was a legitimate business, but if they are blatantly selling bogus items with knowing full-well that these keys are not valid that is super disappointing.
I got one yeaterday from woot that won’t activate saying it’s already been used. Don’t do it.
I bought one less than a week ago and used it to activate a copy of win 11pro — for $27 not too bad.
Two thoughts.

You don’t need to activate windows to use it. You can get all the functionality of it without paying. There are minor limitations like lack of customization so if that bothers you consider buying a key.

I’ve read that these are single use codes which means if you want to install a clean copy of windows down the road, you may be out of luck. But for one installation you should be fine.
My 2 cents for what it’s worth.
Total scam, advertised as a full legit retail box and then some random code is given to you as “a tracking number” and that number DOES NOT WORK.
My first, and last, Woot! purchase ever.
Hi there. Title said:

Make sure you follow the linked instructions. Try typing the key instead of copy/paste.
I ordered a license for Windows 11 Pro, and when I checked the key with the ShowKeyPlus tool, it tells me that the key is for “Win 10 RTM Professional Retail,” NOT Windows 11.
I have reached out to Woot customer service for an explanation.
Is upgrading to Windows 11 an option after installing Windows 10 with this key?
Yes, that upgrade is free.
Ah, so I would have to download the Windows 10 installation first, correct?
