HOW DOES THIS WORK?

1. Get the Woot! app if you don’t already have it.

2. From March 8 - March 11, we’ll release one special product on the main page of the Woot! app right at midnight CT. BUT WHAT ARE THEY??

  • Monday, March 8: Castrol 5W-20 Full Synthetic Motor Oil 3-pack SOLD OUT

  • Tuesday, March 9: Microsoft Wired Keyboard SOLD OUT

  • Wednesday, March 10: Nestle Purified Water, 12-pack LAUNCHED 20 MINS LATE, SOLD OUT

  • Thursday, March 11: Amazon Basics Charcoal Grill SOLD OUT

3. It will look just like the other products on the main page, and it will have its regular price, BUT its image will say “$1 on the Woot! app”

4. Add that product to your cart, and the price will magically drop to $1 at checkout!

5. QUANTITIES ARE LIMITED. These will probably sell out in the first minute or two, so be ready!

6. You may be placed into Woot!'s (in)famous Vestibule of Patience while you’re trying to purchase – this is a way for us to make sure the app doesn’t crash from too much demand. It does NOT guarantee that you’ll be able to complete your purchase.

Can’t wait for all the I CAN’T SEE IT! IT DOESN’T SAY $1! WHY DO I HAVE TO GET THE APP? I DIDN’T WIN, THEREFORE IT’S FAKE.

THIS IS MY FIRST AND LAST TIME ON WOOT!

WHERE IS THE DRONE FOR $1? IT’S ALREADY 12:43AM.

But more importantly, I can’t wait to hover on the app at midnight CT time and hope that everyone forgets that they’re not actually in CT time zone.

The most disappointing thing about the people who say that it’s their first & last time on Woot, is that they continue to hang around by later events, and all they do is complain.

Sometimes the complaining can be over the top and draining. That said, Woot would be bland without the salt. Fresh complaints offer new opportunities for light teasing & sarcasm.

Since midnight is the dimensionless instant between one day and the next, does midnight CT on March 8 mean 1:00 a.m. ET on March 8, or March 9? That is, do you consider midnight March 8 to occur at the beginning of March 8, or at the end of March 8?

If the product sells out while you’re in the vestibule of patience, does it actually kick you out of the vestibule? Is it actually better to wait or back out and re-click the link again?

Not that I’m ever likely to get a $1 deal, just wondering if the servers are randomly selecting people or if it’s truly first come first serve.
