Mr Beams lights are the best, period. Amazing how much better than all the other LED motion sensing light.

There’s no mention how long these last. Let’s assume somebody puts standard non-cheapo alkaline batteries (like Duracell or Energizer) in them.

How long would it last if it was sitting in a closet used a couple times a day?

What about a barely-used location like a shed?

C’mon… MacGyver needs to know these things before he can build something with them.

thanks!
Mac

From the Amazon page (https://amzn.to/2GKMYDQ):

“you will get more than 35 hours of light on one set of batteries.”

It depends how often they are triggered and what type of batteries. With normal use (10 activations per day) you should get at least a year out of your batteries. If you use a better quality battery they will last longer, if you use a cheap dollar of-brand battery it might be shorter.

Are these good for outdoor use?

From the features:

Attach anywhere, inside or outside using the included mounting screws. Tight seals and weather resistant materials allow a Mr. Beams Spotlight to work in all weather conditions.

The amount of light from these is pretty lame. If you want something better (which I did) buy these:

Can it sense motion in absolute darkness? If so, how? Sound? Passive infra-red? If the latter, is it sensitive to environmental temperature?

Hello, Yes it only detects motion in darkness (so you don’t waste battery life during the day) and it detects heat along with movement so inanimate objects shouldn’t trigger it

This is $19 per fixture cheaper. The light coverage is a whopping 40 sq ft less.

Thanks for the answer

I have one in my pantry closet and it lasts several months. They use like 4 C or D batteries so it has good life.

I agree; fair time assessment to an indoor, climate controlled environment. More time in a closet— less above a stairwell. Both depend on use.

I also agree with the other comment that Mr. Beams lights are better made and more
Reliable than others.
