Has anybody used these sheets? I’d love a review, but can’t even find one anywhere else online. My mother-in-law gifted us with a new king size bed (and sheet set since it was a new size for us). The sheets are a scratchy 180 thread count and we’ve got to get some more. What do you guys recommend?
I haven’t used these sheets, but I’m mistrustful of anything microfiber for myself, because I find the texture icky. (I run my fingers over it and shudder. It’s just…icky to me.) I took a peek at this listing because of the phrase “cool comfort,” because I’m always looking for the coolest, slickest sheets for summer use, but I wouldn’t go with microfiber. My suggestion if you want sheets that feel cool against the body is to find a 500-thread count 100%-cotton sateen. And my best suggestion to find sheets for yourself is to check out a store like Bed, Bath, & Beyond and touch all the fabric samples they have to see what feels nice against your skin, and either buy those if price is no object–or note the material and thread count and type, and then look for discounted versions online. (I’m betting these sheets feel like the SHEEX brand, which advertises itself as being very cool on your skin and is made of lyocell, or Tencel, and doesn’t have a thread count in the way cotton does. I’d never buy 'em but maybe you’d like the feel!)
Nurg is right about microfiber sheets. They do feel…different. Very soft, at least the ones I’ve experienced, but not the same crisp cool cotton sheet feel.
I recommend checking out the sheets at Brylanehome.com. Usually they will offer a 20% discount or free shipping that often can be stacked on top of a sale price if you sign up for their email. I’ve gotten some very nice extra deep pocket full cotton 600 count single ply sateen sheets from them that have held up fairly well. I think I paid around $70. Also picked up a gel pad and a mattress protector at reasonable prices, too.
I haven’t had the chance to see what microfiber feels like. It just does not appeal to me. I am a fan of 100% cotton sateen sheets as well, and usually do best with overstock.com or Amazon…
Best of luck!
Just an FYI…most thread counts over 800 are total BS, and they have a method of looping the threads through, and they count each single looped thread, as 2 threads. So a 1400 thread counts are probably 700 or less.
I asked about this when I stayed at The Venetian in Las Vegas, where they don’t cheap out. Those sheets felt like heaven, and they were 550 thread count.
The last photo says they are cotton rich. Walmart makes a really awesome microfiber sheet set. They are 100% polyester and are very light and cool. So cool that several reviews said that they would slide around although I never had that problem myself. The price is also right.
