Neato Robotics Botvac D3 Wi-Fi Robo Vac

Cool! Except the Neato D80 occasionally goes on sale on Amazon for $250, brand new. So this isn’t all that great of a deal.

As a Neato owner, and former Roomba owner, Neato’s organized room mapping technology (which is patented) cleans much more thoroughly than roombas pinball style.

The D80 lacks many of the features of this much newer model. This one is WiFi connected, giving you much more control over it. This is also one of Neato’s newest models, with a more advanced battery and vacuum system.

Im tempted to pull the trigger.

This is their basic model without an edge brush but it works just like a regular vacuum in a back and forth pattern. In some youtube comparisons, they pick up more crap from carpet than a roomba.

Stay away from NEATO! I’ve had 2 and they don’t last. They’ll make it to the day the warranty ends and after that you’re on your own. Customer service is abysmal. The only reason I got the second one was I thought the first one might have just been a lemon. There’s a reason there are so many refurbished ones for sale.

Price Drop

Hi all. The buyer has lowered the price to $229 so buy ALL the Neato vacs!

Also, not sure if y’all noticed that this is NEW, not factory reconditioned. This is a great price for this vac!

PS: If you already purchased, that money will hop back in your pockets soonish.

PPS: Price lowered again.

Had one Neato, after a month it basically couldn’t find station to return to. Cleaned same area over and over. Got it replaced, now battery issues ordered new ones same thing. Oh if you want it fixed you have to ship to one place and its not inexpensive. Ill never buy another Neato

Ditto, stay away from Neato, the robots break and they don’t stand behind their product. Even under warranty, they’ll make you pay $70 to ship the broken one back to them and they’ll send you a refurb.

I have this in black. It picks up a surprising amount of dust and whatnot. It also leaves marks on our baseboards when it bumps into them, even though it is set to gentle.

That said, skip this version and get one with side brushes.

I have the D80, which I bought almost a year ago. I bought it scratch and dent, which I will strive never to do again without a warranty of some kind. This is actually still working, although I have had to replace the LED screen, which was a real pain in the ass to do and required buying a specially sized screwdriver. Lately, I have been working from home and have been here to see exactly what causes it to malfunction and 9 times out of 10, it has just decided to run itself into one of several walls and then pass out trying to make it work. Sometimes it starts out, then decides, MEH, not doing it today and nothing I do will make it work. Then it works fine the next day. That being said, it’s a workhorse when it decides it will deign to do the work and this is a good price for a NEW upgraded version. Get the square trade warranty to go along with it.

I disagree. Mine is 7 years old and still going strong.

Haven’t had any of these r2d2 vacuum thingies before but now thinking of replacing my 12 year old Dyson…so a general question:

How much dirt, dust, DOG HAIR do these actually hold? I like the idea of a little vacuum droid but I don’t want to have to empty it every 10 minutes

Is the square trade warranty offered at checkout?? I have two other Neato models. One on main floor and one in basement. A warranty is a must. I have a love/hate relationship with mine. They tend to have various issues. However they clean really well otherwise.

No, it’s always a separate purchase. Since this is NEW, you can go to SqTr directly.

Warranties for refurbished or factory reconditioned items have to go through an authorized reseller like Woot.

These are not an upright vacuum replacements. You’ll still want a decent upright to do a deeper clean 1-2 times a month depending on your dust level.

I use mine to get the surface stuff daily. It picks up cat hair, feathers, etc. It does about 500sqft before needing to be emptied (2 cats, 1 of which is a long hair.)

[edit] I have an old xv pet version.

I bought a Neato xv-21 robovac thingie like this, here, scratch and dent -aka- refurbished, in 2014. It is still going strong.
I love it!

Highly recommended!

You empty it everyday but when you replace the depleted battery many problems start, I sold my on CraigsList and use ROOMBAS since…

I’ve purchased two Neato bots over the years - and XV21 for my sister and a XV Signature for my house. These are older models so there were issues with the batteries that came with them from the factory - they came with standard nickel batteries and not lithium. I replaced both sets with lithiums very early on and both bots have been working great ever since. Both are used in homes with pets and mostly tile floors. The current models all come with lithium batteries from the factory. With the new batteries, only a handful of times over the years have we had it not find the base station after it was done (the original batteries had voltage issues and the bots used to get confused).

My only gripe with the older XV models is that the dirt bin is too small and I have to empty it at least once during it’s routine. This is another issue that was taken care of with the new design. Other than that it will do all of the house we will let it (I keep it out of the master bedroom and my office because it gets stuck on the cords under the bed and desk, respectively) on a single charge which takes about an hour.

This offering is a great deal but the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger is my XV bot is still running strong. I can’t justify spending the money just to get a larger dirt bin and wifi connectivity that I probably won’t really use. I hope these come up again whenever I need to get another - whenever that will be.
