Netgear Fuse 4G LTE Hotspot

Was looking and couldn’t find if these are CDMA or GSM devices. If it’s CDMA then it must be using Sprints network. I have 2 FP phones (for emergencies). Keep one in the glove box of both jeeps. Use to keep it in my bugout bag but switched to Ringplus and activated one of my older rugged phones for that purpose. The one BIG complaint I have with freedom pop is, you must use your phone at least once (best if you do it twice) a month or it will go to sleep and you have to go online and WAKE IT UP, which good luck finding the link for it. I’m sure these are no different. And trying to get an intelligent response back from their customer support is hit or miss. Since I got the wife a Project Fi phone, don’t worry about WiFi if my primary ISP is down. But, if these were GSM (Tmobile) I would grab one. Just my 2cents

I am no stranger to freedompop since I’ve had them since they only had one hotspot and usb modem on ths Wimax network. At the time it was more of an experiment since there was only one tower in my city with that type of signal but worked well for what its worth.

I am now considering another hotspot since my current one has a battery that no longer takes a charge which started occuring after 90 days from purchase.

Unfortunately, many of these hotspots don’t have 3G which is a necessity where I use the hotspot. The only way I could possibly pick up 4G there is with a yagi antenna on a 20 foot tower.
My belief for 4GLTE only hotspots is that other Asian countries have band 41 so freedompop went on the global market to purchase these hotspots at a discount. For 3G, these Asian countries may use GSM or an entirely different frequency than we use which would make them incompatible.

Has anyone been able to activate this device?

I’ve been working on getting it activated since I received it, and it took until today to finally manage to get it working.

While trying to activate the device/service from the website I was shown that I was eligible for a free trial of the discounted 2GB per month quarterly plan, but the website repeatedly failed to complete activation.

After 3 or 4 emails back n forth with support, they finally gave up and made me wait for a return call from customer service.

Customer support/sales/billing called me this morning, to work on my account setup. Apparently since this device was purchased from Woot, rather than directly from FreedomPop, they said the could not honor their free trial offer that was presented to me via the online activation site.

No specific reason was given as to why my device was ineligible for a free trial period, just that my device specifically was not eligible.

I was offered multiple upsells for alternate devices with free trial service, one of which included this exact device model. (seriously??)

Only after asking if there wasn’t some kind of way to just override the free trial restriction against my device specifically, a supervisor’s only available resolution was to have my first month’s paid service reimbursed.

So 31 minutes on the phone later, getting transferred between various support personnel, my device is now supposedly activated. I’m still trying to connect to it, and it’s just spinning on a setuplte.freedompop.com Log In portal.

I’ll just have to wait and see if I actually get a refund…
