A woot-off, but not on woot?

That’s weird…think that’s a first!
If anyone accidently buys too, I’m happy to share my address!
Amazon has new for 579. This one “TOOW” high for refurb. should be 299-399.
it’s kinda tempting.
No deal here. Not for a refurb. Pass.
Is Woot trying to tell us something cryptic in the writeup? Read between the lines, this looks like it’s new even though it’s called “factory reconditioned”. A lot of times, manufacturers call a new product a refurb so the deal doesn’t disrupt their other retail relationships, but they need to move out of some excess quantity. I have bought “refurbs” from Woot in past that are brand new in unopened retail box, just sayin…
[MOD: BINGO!]
Do not purchase an optoma . I purchased one off of woot and it was faulty when I recieved it. I then paid 50 dollars to ship it to optoma in California for the “warranty” and when it returned it was still flickering and going out. I now have a 450 dollar paperweight. Save your $
Hi there folks. Did you know that there are different reasons for calling items factory reconditioned. There’s the usual reason that y’all are familiar with but sometimes these items can be just like BRAND NEW. ![]()
In fact, if you were to look at these, you would think, wow, this looks BRAND NEW. ![]()

Two
Well you have to remember, remanufactured or refurb can mean anything as it could have been returned due to issues, returned simply because someone didn’t like it, anything. Electronics are usually given new boards and main components when returned with issues. Nowadays it’s easier to replace a board than a chip or smaller components so refurbs can actually be a good deal. This should be cheaper, as noted on other sites this is sold new for just $74 more (BHP with free shipping) Either way this is a solid performer and gives a great bright picture with 1080p details.
Avoid PCMAG and related sites for reviews they are known to be bias on electronic components over the past few years. Amazon and Projector Central are the best for reviews.
Summary:
Limitations
Color adjustments. When adjusting white balance, the HD141X does not have separate controls for gain and bias on each color. That can make it difficult to really nail down a perfect grayscale, which is important for home theater.
Color light output. Despite producing over 3,000 lumens of white light, the HD141X tops out at just over 1,000 lumens of colored light. This can make highlights appear too bright and colors look dull or drab in some scenes, especially if using image modes other than Cinema.
Rainbow effect. The HD141X has a 2x-speed color wheel, so rainbows are a possibility with this projector. If you already know that you see rainbows on slow DLP color wheels, you should count on seeing them here.

That’s a rough experience
bummer! I have had a great experience with Optoma. Bought a refurb Optoma (model: TH1060P) via Woot and have used it as our primary “TV” so it gets lots of use
I’ve replaced the lamp once in the 3 years I’ve had it but that’s simply to be expected because we use it all the time. PRO Series 1080p 4500Lm Data Projector

Annnnddd, that killed it for me. I’m in the market for a new projector, but I’m one of those who sees the “rainbow effect” from DLP projectors. Pass…

Or it could mean they’re like new. Like, really like new.
READ BETWEEN THE LINES, people!
