Philips Avance XL Digital Airfryer - 2 Colors

Be Careful–there is a difference between the hd9230 and the hd9240 check the amazon reviews. Woot does not state the exact model # and both models are pictured.

Can someone from woot clarify please, is this 9240 or 9230?

My wife coveted this thing from WS where it cost double this woot. I thought it was a ridiculous appliance and that we’d never use it but could see we were going to end up with one anyway…so when this woot popped up I figured I was saving 50%.
My unit arrived rather battered cosmetically, woot compensated me for this, but still I kept it because I knew we’d never use the thing anyway.
We use it at least a couple of times a week! No, it doesn’t give the same texture as deep fried, but pretty close! Basically any kind of frozen appetizer type food comes out great. Frozen french fries get like a B+ to an A-…but actually I made some thin cut fresh fries the other night that were very close to fast food in taste and texture.
My unit did not come with any instructions, but there are recipes/guides available in pdf format online.

My only caveat is that the item is larger than you would think, it looks like it would be the size of a basketball, it is about the same size as my kitchenaid stand mixer.

It’s been so great for me too. I didn’t know what to expect, but now anything frozen goes in it. It cooks much faster than my convection oven and does some fries I’d describe as being B+ compared to a deep fryer, but at a fraction of the calories It’s just a much healthier choice I am happy to make.

I’m waiting for this answer too. Please let us know. Thanks

AM planning to use this unit to fry; steak, hamburger and lamb instead of using a cast iron skillet. But am concerned about “smoking” issues which is a common complaint on Amazon for this unit.

From comments, it appears that this units works well for frozen items but may not as an alternative to frying meats.

Has anyone used this unit to “air” fry meat and if so did the unit smoke or leave an oil smell?

I received my Philips Avance XL Digital Airfryer in Black on Saturday. It is indeed the 9240. It has been refurbished from a Canadian model I believe because there is a chart printed on the front next to the digital controls and all of the cooking temperatures are in Celsius. When you turn the machine on the machine registers in Fahrenheit. Needless to say I would have prefered a USA refurbished model. I haven’t cooked with it yet lets hope that the Fahrenheit temperatures indicated are indeed correct. For the moment I am disappointed it also shows some sign of wear and tear and no rack or accessories. I guess this is what you get at this price point. Fingers crossed.
