For anyone wondering … these are NOT the Philips Hue bulbs that change colors, these are white bulbs only. Disregard half of the images shared on the w00t page for this item as they show changing colors of light. Some trickery going on there.
Thanks for pointing it out; for $57, it still seems like a pretty good idea to me.
Pros:
+Cheaper
+”livable” color, what I use most
+Dimmable (the main benefit over just putting a lamp on a smart plug).
+Wall switch for instant local control that doesn’t disable your system
+Remote control
+automation features
+Hub for expansion
+Zigbee network tech: No extra traffic (usually) for your internet router to manage
+10W per bulb at 100%
Cons:
-No “Instant decorations” for holidays
-3 bulbs is a weird number… most rooms have more than one bulb on a switch, and it’s annoying to have mixed smart and basic lights.
-Zigbee tech: not the latest competition from Thread/Matter devices (whose hubs are significantly more expensive than the Hue hub, but the bulbs seem to be far cheaper, I.E. Nanoleaf Essentials).
Conclusion: I would like bundle pricing on 4 smart switches please
