Does anyone know if you have to pay extra money to unlock additional features such as menus, transitions, and etc like you did in Studio 9 Pinnacle program?
No reason it shouldn’t. The 64-bit version of Windows 7 has an emulator that runs 32-bit programs. However, I bought the Pinnacle HDTV card sold here and tried to get the their proprietary viewing program for 64-bit XP and they sent an automatically generated e-mail essentially saying, “You and your crappy operating system aren’t supported. Leave or I shall taunt you a second time.” So, buyer beware.
Does this software support H.264? I see it says “mpeg-4”, but that’s pretty vague. And what about MJPEG?
I was wondering the same thing so I did some digging around. According to the Pinnacle website the 12.1 update that is a free download includes the following:
Seems to.

My questions are, what’s the real difference between ver. 12 and ver. 14? I can’t find any.
And what’s the difference between Ultimate and Ultimate Collection?
This is why I don’t buy Pinnacle products anymore. Their product details are too “mushy” and don’t give you any specifics.
For example, their HD support. Which specs are we talking about? Does it include decoders for all of them, or am I going to get trapped into trying to edit MPGs??
Can anyone confirm whether the plug-ins are full versions? If so, this is an amazing deal: Boris Grafitti alone is $69 when purchased as an individual Studio plug-in!
Strange.
This version includes the green screen, but I thought they didn’t start bundling that until 14.
Anyway, when I saw that, I bought it.
I figure I can upgrade later and at this price, I’ll just temporarily suspend my Pinnacle boycott.
Highly unlikely, but I’d love to be wrong.
Version 9 was useless. It turned your system into a Crash-O-Matic. That was right before they were bought out, though. I’ve had some success with later versions, but haven’t bought from them in a while.
hope it is… also the $299 is for the Vegas and Adobe plug-ins. I noticed that the Studio plug-in is only $69. Sounds suspiciously like it includes only a few un-editable samples and a gateway page to their online store.
Yes, Pinnacle Studio recognizes JVC .mod video files.
I can burn a DVD straight from my JVC camcorder’s hard drive using Pinnacle Studio.
The current version on pinncles site is studio 14. I wonder if there is alot of difference between versions 12 and 14?
Many of the flash memory and hard drive HD cameras output AVCHD format. Pay particular attention to your system requirements! Particularly the requirements for a graphics card and these processor requirements:
“■Intel® Core™2 Duo 2.4 GHz or higher required for 1440×1080 AVCHD editing
■Intel® Core™2 Quad 2.66 GHz or higher required for 1920×1080 AVCHD editing”
These are minimum requirements, more is better.
This is the first time I’ve seen software on woot. Keep it coming
Pinnacle used to be a good company with good products. Last few years not so much. Software might be good but hardware not good like they had when they first started…
I will keep my money in my pocket on this one.
Dan
PS. If you want a USB pinnacle TV tuner I have one that does not work. Just like the reviews I read on WOOT before I bought from WOOT.
Thanks,
Dan
When you capture video you can select in
scene detecting during video capture
“automatic based on video content”. At that point it will break the file into many thumb nails thru out the capture but it all will be in one file. I have been using Pinacle since studio 7 and I love it.
agreed. I have one of those tuners from woot myself. It came with outdated software to begin with, I knew that when I bought it thanks to the community. It did work with updated software. Since I found out it would work with windows media center I have not even started the pinnacle software.
Now, I have studio 10 plus. it didn’t come with a green screen, but it has some kind of chroma option. I had studio 8 before that.
All of it just barely works. Save your project after every other edit and close down everything but studio when rendering and you may be ok.
Yes - But if you purchased extras for previous versions they will work with the latest versions too.
What hardware or cables (outside of your computer) do you need to use this? In particular, I want to edit some VCR and mini-DV tapes, and this looks good, but what additional expenses am I in for?
…back when the script was written.
Looked kinda like www.stickdeath.com.
