Pyle Wireless IP Cameras

Just received the bullet camera and have been playing with it for the last couple hours. So far so good. Haven’t placed it in to permanent action but here’s two things that might help with setup:

DON’T HAVE A SMART PHONE? All the instructions say to use the Pyle App to link the IP address to the software. You can also just plug in the camera to your router and obtain the IP address by going in to the router settings and finding the MAC address. I reserved the IP address it was using so that devices always uses the same IP address. Keep this number handy when setting up the software.

HOW TO SET UP CAMERA WIRELESS: The instructions are confusing because they talk about a different software than what is on the CD. You need the IP Camera Tool to make the camera wireless. I went to the Foscam website and downloaded it from there since I figured it was more trustworthy than a Google search. Once you run the program and can see your camera in your browser, go to network settings on the left and set up wireless. Do a search and find your router. Put in the security code if necessary. Unplug the ethernet cable and wait 30 seconds for it to re-boot (may need to refresh your browser and sign in to the camera again.)

Like I said, so far so good. I have two more coming and should only take a few minutes each to setup. Image quality is small and decent when using the software on my PC. Ivideon remote viewer was easy to setup with guidance from the video on Pyle’s website, but the image quality is lower. Haven’t tried the Ispy service yet.

DEAL BREAKER IMO. Sorry and I need one of these but I need all things tech support more :frowning: Im basically good at making sure the wires are snug and the power cord in but any router configuring and Im dead in the water. Email delays are a drag. Phone geek is best.

This camera using Peer to Peer technology, so you just need to plug power, Network cable; Then download the Pyle app to view it. No need router config; Or you want to know more details to set in broswer, pls let us know the details.

I don’t have a smartphone. Are there free services to access the IP address online or do I have to pay for ispy?
Hi, Ispy is a third party software, supporting Pyle camera, what is more, Blueiris…etc; As i know, their have test version. but if you want to record to cloud, they charges. I suggest you use the IPCam client.exe doing this, which is located in CD in the camera box.

Well, my cam was delivered today and I hooked it up in a few minutes. The cam did an initialization routine and stopped in a downward facing position. I can connect with my phone and I can connect with my computer. It shows me a good picture but I can’t get it to move (pan or tilt) with the computer software or the phone app. It just sits there.
It is the cheaper model and I have contacted Woot so hopefully they will be helpful.
Woot has always been helpful in the past so this shouldn’t be a problem.

Hi, Which camera you have? PIPCam 5 or PIPCam 15? If PIPCam 5, and you are using Smart phone to view and control your camera, in the live video screen, you just need to slip up/down/left/right to control P/T; If for PIPCam 15, not P/T feature, as it is a outdoor box camera.
BTW, if camera have P/T feature but can not control, try unplug power and plug back, sometimes, camera crash.

I don’t want to install and app. I want direct IP connection from the camera to the router. I connect with Internet Explorer 11 to the camera’s internal web server.

So, in this scenario, how do I configure the connection?

I don’t really mind setting up port forwarding, I just want to know if that is the correct way to set up the connection.
Hi, Thanks for feedback!

For LAN: you can use IP tool.exe; after plug power and network cable, you can see the IP address in this tool. Double click to login in IE.

For Internet: 1. you can set a port for camera, and forwarding the port and camera IP in the router, then you can use the factory DDNS link to view remotely. What is more, you can use your external IP+port to view; you can check your external ip via" www.whatismyip.com
I don’t want to use an app. I want to be able to use a public or hotel computer, which an app cannot be downloaded. I don’t want to have a PC running at home while I’m away.

Does the camera come with a free DDNS account?
Yes, Supporting free DDNS; you can login the camera; and check the DDNS;

BTW, camera also can be viewed under 3G/4G network if you want to use app.

One thing to keep in mind if using this as a baby monitor. Unlike Foscam, which you already own, These Pyle cameras will not remember the last saved location after a reboot or power out. You will have to go in and reset the camera position where you want it. That was one of the many deal breakers for me. I have 4 saved positions on my camera that I check. The main location is my front entrance. If the power fails, it automatically goes back to the entrance view when the power is restored. That is not possible with this camera. Maybe a feature that Pyle can add in a future firmware update.
Hi, PIPCam 5 and PIPCam 8 already support this feature, actually, this call Preset position. The camera can support this feature, it is near the P/T control irons located in live video screen.

BTW, it seems you know how to set it, but if have questions, pls do freely contact us. we will show details.

Well, this is a new product by Pyle. It is likely that Woot may offer these again. So it’s important that the people who bought these cameras share their experiences on how they are working and their reliability rate.

So far, No one has 100% success rate, especially those who bought more than one. Unless Pyle fixes the obvious quality control issues, and offers phone support that is real (not a decoy phone number with an answering machine that is never attended by a human), these cameras will be a dead end product. Without proper support and frequent bug fixes and updates. these products will be a dead end product that will never perform like the bigger players.

I have my own frustrations with the big name IP cameras as well (Foscam, Dlink, etc.), but these Pyle cameras don’t have a promising future in my opinion. This product is off to a bad start. It’s not too late for Pyle to fix it though. the specs are good, and the prices are good. The support and reliability is crapola.
Pls try use hand to cover the Lens when Camera power on. Then release the Lens. Sometimes, the camera still remember it is night view, we need to make the IR detector to know it is daytime.

Hi, It is the PIPcam5. Even during initialization (camera does full circuit and then it is SUPPOSED to move up and down), it only does the flat circuit (one circle). It simply does not tilt up or down. It also does not respond to ANY movement commands from computer OR smartphone.
I am still waiting for woot to contact me.

Having same issue with PIPCAM5. Have it connected to IP Camera Tool and iVideon, but it just sits there (backwards) blinking at me. UN-responsive to controls in the Tool. I can get it to reset with that middle button that looks like a round arrow once then no other movement. Sounds and feels like the motor is trying to do something but no movement.

Don’t feel bad. I have around 600 and just got 2 bad units… I just sent the following including your response and mine. I didn’t care for the first response.
ollowup to my last email.
This s is from Woot site… Read carefully and forward to appropriate persons as I expect a full refund from Woot on this. If not cancel all outstanding orders and I will do chargebacks. They even say to get refund from u.

Ok here you go, remember I received this Saturday and opened the box Sunday…
I called and was told to contact the vendor twice. Then Mr Benzion who seemed so concerned to help sent this generic email. Woot nor Pyle ever called to help. The other 2 cameras I bought arrived one does work but out of focus the other was Dead on arrival.
Here is the reply from Pyle.

Update from Woot… Only took 10 minutes, that is good service. Kenneth rocks. They are taking care of it correctly. Thx Kenneth!

Help! I have plugged in the camera, connected to my Router…doesn’t have a switch/modem box, just a wireless router. I have a green light, no yellow. I downloaded the app to iphone, scanned and found camera. Camera stays “offline”. I have tried to pair wps, but no good. so installed the software on the computer. I get only a white screen, it won’t find anything, no ip address, just a blank page. Frustrated! Any ideas?

Worthless piece of pyle. I cannot get it to connect to the WIFI, so I have it hard wired. Sometimes is connects sometime it doesn’t. It will shut it self down and then the password will not work. I do a factory reset and can get it on the network and password is ok, the an hour later back to no working. Contacted Pyle and they said to reset it to factory specs and it should solve the problem. Well not go and it is now an expensive piece of Pyle paperweight on my desk. I only wanted my money back so I would buy more Woot stuff, can’t even get them to do that…

Is it possible to power these cameras with power over ethernet?

I CANNOT get the pipcam24 I bought to show up on the app I downloaded! iPhone 6, downloaded the Pyle Pro app… Scanned the QR code and it found the camera. But I cannot get the WIFI to connect??? Suggestions please!!!

Bought it, was doing initial setup, had the AUDACITY to change the default password after getting it set up for wifi, now the link light is stuck on whether or not it’s plugged in and it won’t connect to wifi or ethernet.

I have factory reset my IpCam8 2 times now and cannot login. The user name and passwords I were provided were: admin&admin, admin&password and admin&“blank”. Does anyone have any insight?
