Will these work on NON-Apple phones? Or my stereo?
::edit:: Mostly wanting for flights, so laptop or Samsung phone.

There may be some adapter out there, but these are intended for Apple devices.
[TT: They will work as headphones on any device. Certain functions will not work on non-apple devices.]
Wouldn’t a 3.5mm plug be the same on all phones? They have the inline mic and phone controls for Apple, but if I don’t intend to use them to speak, wouldn’t they still work as noise canceling headphones?
Can’t find anything that says no specifically…
Hopefully the Android one will be available tomorrow! These are the best headphones I’ve ever owned, INCLUDING the QC 35s which I upgraded to this year. Those are wireless, yes, but not as good as these. I miss my QC 25s.
After a lot of searching, I discovered this:
““If you have an Android phone, the volume buttons, and previous track features won’t operate. On Android, the mic, play/pause, and next track are the only features available.””
Seriously bizarre…
Is that a thing?
You can buy the Android cable from the Bose site for $29.99 and just swap it for the Apple cable that it comes with:
You can also buy a separate cable off of Amazon but the reviews on some of those seem questionable.
As others have noted, the Apple cable works just fine on Android for listening, but some of the other features (mic, vol +/-, pause) may or may not work unless you get the actual Android cable.
Wish they had the Android version. Would so buy these now…
Nope. That’s where the “hopefully” comes in.
It’s really interesting that these are refurb.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Bose do refurbs.
Are you sure, though, that the Android cable works with (or even fits) the Apple headphones.
Yes, it’s just a 3.5mm connector at both ends. You can unplug the headphone end if you just want to use them for the noise reduction (while sleeping on a long flight for example), or swap out the cables if one breaks.
Correct.
These are the best headphones I’ve ever had. The noise cancellation works very well. It doesn’t work as well for voices, but it does mute them by a lot. It does great for recurring sounds, like air conditioner motors, etc.
Using the apple cable on android removes all functions but the actual connection, and the mic. The controls do not work.
That’s what I thought until I walked into the Bose store at the local premium outlet and saw a counter for refurb’d headphones. I’d like to get one of these, but I’m on the fence. If you read the reviews, they’re very good for NC, but they’re also expensive and not very durable given their high price, and this is with full factory warranty. I don’t know if I can justify spending this much money on a potentially fragile refurb.
I have the Android version of these and unfortunately it is not 3.5mm connector on both ends. The headphone end is somewhat smaller than 3.5mm (maybe 2.5mm). That being said, the Bose Android cable will work with these but not a generic 3.5 to 3.5 adapter (although aftermarket cables made specifically for the QC25 should work).
These are without a doubt - the best.
I cannot fly/travel without them.
I’ve had the QC15 for 6+ years and just recently upgraded to Qc25 a few months ago but regretted that since the QC35 just came out.
QC25 have same comfort and quality as the QC15 but they fold slightly smaller for packing. I didnt really need to upgrade to them at all.
For $200 vs 215 its a no brainer, I paid over $300 + tax for these.
Note: the wireless qc35 only worth with bluetooth. If there was a wireless dongle for airplane jacks, I would have instantly purchased them
I have a pair of these, bought refurbed through the Mother Ship. They came looking brand new.
I recommend these for travel, not at home. Their is a trade off in sonic quality because of the NC technology. That said, the Noise Cancelling is amazing! I can’t say enough good about it. If you want very good phones with NC, these are the ones. Hands down, no questions asked, full Imprimatur from me. The sound is excellent, but I am saying that compared to some non-NC phones I have they come up short, not poor quality but just not as excellent.
Couple of unclear statements I think you have made. There is not an Apple and an Android version of these phones. I know you are referring to the cables, but in my experience any ‘correct’ generic cable will work. You are apparently referring to being able to take a phone call, and maybe adjust the volume through your cord. I use amplifiers for my headphones, and do not listen through a phone in the first place, so… that’s what I’m referring to. Not trying to dis you bro.
The 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable issue is pretty easy to deal with. Just search for that on Amazon, or Cables To Go, and they can be found starting at $4.99. Again, not with the phone capability feature usually. The replacement cables are not made specifically for Bose headphones. Bose for some reason chose to do this, but there are plenty of inexpensive solutions available.
