Ray-Ban Sunglasses

[QUOTE=davegong, post:11, topic:368196]

The only models that I like are the aviators unfortunately they’re not polarized. You can tell if they’re polarized or not by looking at the logo on the lense, if they’re polarized it will say Ray Ban P, if they’re not it will just say Ray Ban.

If you look closely at the pics, some have the “P” and some don’t. But still, buy at your own risk.

Anyone know how these fit for Asians?

Not polarized…there would a “P” on the lenses where it says “Ray-Ban”

It’s difficult to generalize; for some, the problem lies in having a smaller face; for others, a smaller nose.

But speaking for models such as the Caravan, I’ve seen these on men and women of different races, including Asians. Smaller faces make the sunglasses look bigger, and larger smaller; this means a different effect, but not necessarily a bad fit. Bear in mind that metal frames offer some play; you can bend the nose-pieces, carefully.

As a consumer, you might have to blame yourself, generally speaking. Some things, consumers like to see cheap, such as rent, food, and gas. But other things can be entirely different; and it’s not just about showing off how much you can afford. People expect a certain price to go with a certain quality. I know of a private school that was losing money; the owner raised the price of tuition, resulting in increased enrollment and quite a lengthy waiting-list. It wasn’t the income-grade of the families that changed; it was the belief that their children were receiving a quality education.

The short answer is, “Maybe, but probably not.” Luxottica has effectively monopolized the sunglasses market. They own Ray-Ban, Oakley, Persol, Oliver Peoples, Revo, and Arnette among others. They also make glasses for Polo Ralph Lauren, Versace, Vogue, and Tiffany. Oh, and they own Sunglass Hut and Pearle Vision. They basically strong-arm competitors into selling eyewear at outrageous prices, or they won’t carry them in their stores.

There IS a difference in build quality between a pair of $150 Ray-Bans and a $10 pair you can pick up at wal-mart, but it’s not a $140 quality difference. I’m against supporting companies in the “Luxottica Cartel”, which means not buying glasses either manufactured or sold by Luxottica-owned companies (sorry Maui Jim). I’ve picked up a couple of pairs of shades at my local flea market for a total of $20 that are good enough to replace my worn-out Ray Bans and I don’t plan on looking back until something happens to break them up.

Oh and PS: Sunglasses sold at Target? Yup. Luxottica.

What’s with the reflection of the flying, caped monkey in the banner image of the girl wearing a pair? Anyone?

It depends on the model, certain ones have adjustable nose bridges. So you Like mold them to fit your face. Most of the glasses listed will fit us fine but the three models at the very bottom of the list would not.

Ordered a pair on the 25th, and they still haven’t even shipped? hmmph.

Well, this is business day five, so give it a little more time to update and if we’re not seeing any movement, we can all ping support@woot.com tomorrow about your order, okay? :slight_smile:
