SAMSUNG Galaxy Watch 4 Classic 46mm - Black

SAMSUNG Galaxy Watch 4 Classic 46mm - Black

I have a galaxy watch 3… worth upgrading?

All personal preference. I believe the 3 is still running on Tizen so it will have better battery life and will be limited to apps that support that o/s. Plus you’re stuck using bixby for the personal assistant.

The android based watches tend to consume battery life faster, have a larger pool of apps to use, and you can use google assistant instead of bixby.

I have this same watch from T-mobile, this is a great price for a smartwatch, but it dies quickly. Personally I wanted a fitbit but T-mobile stopped carrying them.

https://www.samsung.com/us/watches/galaxy-watch4/buy/ classic at 46mm is 379. Eek.

I have the Galaxy Watch 3 too. My wife has the Watch 4, and the battery life is horrible!

Yes, she is on the Android OS, and mine is on Tizen. But for what I use it for, I’d rather have the longer battery life.

For me at least it’s not worth the upgrade.

I upgraded from a Gear S3 which I’d been wearing for years. My battery life is fine. Mine easily lay all day. I work 13 hour days. I can probably do 2 days. I bought mine for $200 new without any trade ins. It still prefer my Gear S3, but this has more features for the future. I wouldn’t surrender this much money to have upgraded. I can never get it to complete the body composition test. It stalls around 81% every time.

Edit.
I also got silver. I like the watch. The price is fine, but not upgrade good, to me.

I have the smaller version Samsung 3 classic and I get north of 2 days battery life with it.

My bud has this same one, classic 4 same size and he gets just over a day which makes it hard to use it to track his sleep.

Not impossible, but there needs to be planning to make sure it’s charged enough to track his sleep, so he has to have a charger at work to charge it while he goes to lunch.

Pain in the ass.

If you want to upgrade, wait till the galaxy 5 comes out later this summer.

Hopefully the battery issue will be addressed.

Does the outer ring have any functionality?

If you have a Galaxy Watch 3 (not to be confused with the Galaxy Gear S3), then my suggestion would be to hold out unless you really want to move from Tizen to WearOS - otherwise, look to the upcoming Galaxy Watch 5 that has been reported to be equipped with a much larger battery of 572mAh as opposed to the current Galaxy Watch 4’s 361mAh and 247mAh on the 44mm and 40mm respectively, and is touted to offer improved battery life of 3 days.

I just upgraded from the Gear S3 Frontier to the Galaxy Watch 4 and have been happy except for the battery life I’m getting two solid days of life and having to charge early on the 3rd day. My Frontier was easily beating this by 1 day. Kind of bullshit they couldn’t have figured out better battery life over 3 models.

I am also still using the Gear S3 Frontier. It’s not very fast, but it does work for what I need (and MST is still a thing with this watch). I was considering the Galaxy Watch 4, but the battery life problem was big for me as I can eke out about 2 days on the Gear S3 Frontier. I’m waiting for the Galaxy Watch 5 and reviews on it before I make a decision on upgrading.

Just the opposite for me. I really preferred my Gear S3 Classic though.

Not worth the upgrade if you’re spending real money.

Edit.
I didn’t use MST on my watch, but Samsung was the only one with this tech and really missed the boat not bragging and pimping it

There is no outer ring in the sense of an actual moving ring. It does still work like the moving ring just by moving your finger around the edge.
