Santa Fe Fajitas and More Buffet Griller

SUPERSDC, you have mentioned that you “chucked” this twice.
WHY?

Now I have fajitas and lemonade - that’s a party!

For some reason this is tempting, I dunno why. Not like we eat tacos alot and stuff. Though it’ dbe tempting. I wonder how big this is? I guess good enough for one to two people right? Hrm. Dunno what I’d cook on this other than chicken and I hate touching raw chicken, seriously. mmm Grilled samwhiches…

Okay I’m off to bed before I buy, I still have a 5 buck off cupon for woot too after that webcam thing. I hope that code is still good, I may just etthis tomorrow.

Folks,
I live about 35 miles from Santa Fe and enjoy going to the restaurants there fairly often. The key to good fajitas is fresh ingredients and the right mix of ingredients. This “toy” isn’t going to magically make good fajitas for you - I can’t even imagine the grill spitting and smoking slightly before I scoop the “innards” into a tortilla.

But then, there is a beer company down in Albuquerque that makes “Santa Fe Ale” (our balloon landed there one ABQ International B’loon Fiasco years ago and they were very hospitable.)

It just powered on and off without warning. It was either too hot or no power at all. Just buy a saute pan to do the job.

Looks like a good deal. Worth the $25 dollar risk. I’m in for one.

Sure is, just add the $20.00 shipping. Try reading a little closer

OMG I forgot about my lemonader. It’s meal time as soon as this shows up.

In the words of Alton Brown–“The only uni-tasker in my kitchen is a fire-extinguisher.” Besides, I’ve already got a good grill pan. Maybe tomorrow night

How is $30-38.00 cheaper than 22.05? You have to add the shipping, unless your buying it from your neighbor and not getting from Santa.

Read the whole description before you dog on it.

Not really

Hey, if you decide not to use it as a grill, you can always use it as glove warmer in the winter.

Happy wooting!

This is the only Woot I didn’t like. I buy from Woot Wine and here and Woot usually comes through, but this product blew chunks.

Anybody know (and wanna tell me) how much you can cook on this thing? How big is the grill? Will it be fajitas for 1, or fajitas for 1 with lots of leftovers?

…I gotta get a date.

OK… I just saw this on Amazon.com

It has a 4.5 out of 5 star rating.
It is a plug in (someone asked above if you have to heat it on the stove first, and apparently that is not the case).
It is not made by Santa Fe but is a SALTON brand, Sante Fe MODEL.

Jason

In fact, this is absolutely screaming kipple. Look up a decent definition of the word “kipple” on Wikipedia.org. And then think of how much of it you have in the place you live. Do you want more?

In short, kipple is like dust bunnies, but malevolent.

Amazon.com had 4 very positive reviews on it, It’s ½ price here and from the pictures and comments, it’s made for two without a problem. Unless your dating Two Ton Sally.

i actually own one of these, paid a few bucks more but it works pretty well. it plugs in with its own adjustable heating element, and the pan on the side warms the tortillas. Although it takes quite a while to actually cook the meat/chicken to be done enough, you might as well use a pan. But the novelty is pretty good, and it works great for re-heating the fajitas mix.

I have to say. I own a Santa Fe Quesadilla press (christmas present), an electric wok (wedding), an electric tabletop grill (wedding), and about 8 other gizmos, gadgets, and cookers. I have used each of them maybe once. Unless you have 88 feet of unused counter space and a maid service, or absolutely no other way to cook, you will always fall back on pots, pans, grill. These things are too much effort to set up, too much effort to take down, and too much effort to clean. That aside, the Santa Fe brand is actually pretty reliable in my experience, so if you must ignore my (and the Right Reverend Alton Brown’s) warnings, your once-per-lifetime cooking experience on it will at least be pleasant =)

A glorified frying pan?
