Anyone have this and can answer a question? I’ve got a short haired rug and a short haired dog, and my Dyson V7 just can’t grab the hair from the low pile anymore. Trying to see if this nifty robot could help, my boy sneezes and I just see the hair go everywhere.
This will probably work well for you. I have the older version and it was amazing with my Rottweiler, Lab, and Chihuahua. The Rott died and we got a St. Bernard…
It can’t handle his hair without having to unclog it daily. I just got the new version with lidar and it’s doing better but not perfect.
I purchased one of these in July of last year, and it runs 5 days a week and actually does a really great job over time.
My wife is a real vac snob and was gleefully pointing out things on the floor, but even she had to admit that the floors actually looked really good after you let the robot do its thing for a period of weeks. We have two large doodles and they bring much of the maine first inside daily! That’s the good.
The bad is that my robot recently stopped working, the drive wheels are broken.
Researching online this is a pervasive problem across all shark robots. The springs that provide suspension for the vac are broken.
I’m waiting for the tool to arrive so i can better diagnose(long t10 torx bit). But the wheels run about 50 bucks each.
So I’m actually here buying another one! I love the robot and i need it to work. I might buy two and retire my two dumb shark vacs
Anyone have experience using one of these with cat hair? I can’t imagine it wouldn’t be effective, given the positive comments relating to dog hair, but figured I’d ask. I’m mainly interested in some help cleaning up after my relentlessly messy toddler and 2nd grader.
Last August I bought the UR1000SR refurbished version from here to replace my aging Roomba that wouldn’t charge most of the time anymore unless I put it on the dock just right. While I love the idea and when it works I am happy with it, the Shark is not as smart as the Roomba was when the Roomba was working. We have 2 cats, a short hair dog, and a bird in our house, so there is always a mess and we have it scheduled to run M-F right after lunch.
Here are the issues I have with mine:
I often find it stuck at the stairs down from my main level with 1 wheel over the edge. The Roomba never had an issue detecting this as a cliff and avoiding it.
It get stuck on medium sized debris that the bird throws out of his cage that the Roomba would either move out of the way or sweep up without a problem.
When emptying it will often get a feather or piece of something stuck between the robot & the base, so it won’t run after that since the flap isn’t closed. The Roomba wasn’t self emptying so I had to empty it every day.
It often looses the map or at least portions of the map so it can’t clean only sections of the house when requested. The Roomba didn’t have a map function.
Most of these are due to the way our house is set up and the debris it has to clean up. The biggest issue for me is that if it can’t clean for some reason, it will just sit on the dock without any indication it has an issue till you go into the app and look why it hasn’t cleaned.
When it successfully does a cleaning cycle it does a good job, but the days where it completes a cleaning cycle without a problem is less than the number of days when it has an issue that I have to fix. And the wife doesn’t pay attention to it, so if it doesn’t clean while I am out of town for work she doesn’t look at or for the robot, she just wonders why the floor is still dirty.
I just bought this. Its my third shark robovac with self empty base - bought on woot. The first one I bought in Sept 2020 just died. It’s main brush bearing has given up so it thinks something is stuck in the brush and stops. It ran 7 days a week cleaning about 1700sq ft each day. I estimate it did about 220K sq ft over the 19 months of ownership before this problem. i am now keeping it for its parts. Its battery is still going strong. Ive changed filters and brushes a few time.
This one is a slightly different model that the other two I have. The main visual difference is that the ones I have. have a handle on the base that makes it easy to handle :-). This particular model looks more like the ones Costco was selling. When i get it in my hands I will post a comparison.
All this to answer your questions whether it will pickup short hair from a short pile carpet. The models I have are more like sweeping robots with some suction power. They work great on short pile carpet and short hair. The work great with all types of pet hair on bare floor as well. They do not have the power to vacuum a regular carpet like a proper upright vacuum. Their vacuuming port is actually pretty small and they rely on the two side brushes to sweep everything into the path of the vacuum port. See picture with neato side by side. So the sharks stay on the levels where its mostly bare floor and the neato on the level with the most carpet.
Here are a couple threads from when these models were previously available. I want a robot vac but everytime I go through the comments on one I come to the conclusion that the longevity and effectiveness isn’t quite where I want it. Yet.

I want to buy (and set up) one of these for my parents. My dad is anti-app utilization though, and I see there’s no remote control. My thinking is I’d set it up with Alexa so my dad could just tell Alexa to have the vacuum get to work.
Anyone have experience with how the integration with Alexa is?
Also, I don’t see any barrier strips. Is that just old school and I use mapping to tell it where to avoid? Just looking to block off the place on their floor where they put the dogs water dish or a table that if knocked might cause a precariously placed item to fall over… stuff like that.

I bought one and am considering the Asurion plan since the warranty is only 90 days. I assume I just buy the correct plan on Amazon and then the vacuum is covered. Is my assumption correct?

Just an update…i pulled the wheels and both spring clips are broken on my old ur1100sr purchased from woot 7/7/2021k with a90 day warranty)
I called Shark to check the price of new wheels and they are sending me a warranty replacement!
Not what i was anticipating at all!
But really, this is a terrible design. The vac weighs several pounds and the suspension relies on mm thick plastic.
Already have a dumb ninja vac and it works great.
Bought this one and it gets stuck on little things the other one has no issue with. This one also sometimes cannot find the dock and runs battery dead trying.
