Anyone have experience with these?
Also available, brand new, for $303 +tax via Bed/Bath and Beyond with their usual 20% off coupon.
No itās not
Yes, I bought one and it broke in 4 months, one of the brush motors is seized and it is not easy to replace or find parts for. I would not buy. The one I bought was from woot.
I have 2niw that I purchased from Woot. They are in fact, both running at the moment. The self empty base makes them totally worth it I have them run early in the morning. One on the main level runs every day. The one in the basement runs 2 times a week.
Caveat - they need light to run. Meaning they need to be able to see the room they are cleaning - so you canāt use them at night with the lights off. If you do - the mapping feature wonāt work. It will still clean.
I have also recently bought a set of brushes and filters.
We have 2 dogs. They shed. This handles 95 of the fur.
The self empty base makes these robots the only kind I will ever buy again.
These are not powerful vacuums. They are more like sweepers that also vacuum. In any case - my floors and rugs are clean and neat. You will still need to use your vacuum ocassionally.
This is 1st Gen 1Q, supposedly 2nd gen is way better.
Unfortunately specific room scheduling is on-demand only (via the app). For example, I want the kitchen cleaned daily, but the bedrooms weekly. Cannot do this.
I would agree about the self emptying base being a big plus as long as you remember to empty it. Robotic vacās have been on the ground for years now and as the different brands Iāve had and have, Iāve yet to have one that refuses to move when the tank is full. Why canāt they have a āsuckā sensor that will not let the thing leave the dock, and scream like he11 when the tank is full. Iāve had mostly NEATOS. Currently use a Deebot 900 series, Samsung v9000, Neato V21 and Bot 80. I have a 3 story house, over 4k sqft, 1st floor is all hardwood w/area rugs. Have 2 cats. So even with a whole house vac system, these little monsters keep us from dragging out the hose no more then once or twice a month.
DO NOT BUY! Customer Service sucks, it broke 2 months into using the product. Shark wanted me to pay $35 to send me a new unit. It also gets stuck on anything you have the floor, ie, chair rails, table rails that are close the floor. The only good thing about this product was that it did vacuum well, when it wasnāt stuck.
Most Roombas have a āfullā sensor that wonāt let it leave when it needs emptied, FYI.
I decided to jump in on this one to give the self-emptying a try. Thatās honestly my biggest complaint about my Roomba. We have 3 dogs and a medium hair cat. I run mine every day and it needs emptied every day.
Does anyone know if you can add an extended warranty to this?
Unfortunately, weāre unable to offer extended warranties at this time.
I was ready to buy but there are a bunch of recent reviews saying the refurb product comes full of dirt and uninspected. Unusual for Amazon from my experience but I donāt use woot much. Has anyone gotten a good one or should I pass?
Is it XL RV1001AE or XL RV101AE.
I could not find the model with XL RV1001AE
Iāve had this model for about a year and love it. I donāt know how these people are breaking theirs, but mine works 5 days a week (I give it a break on weekends). I bought one for my daughter recently and she loves it.
Hereās the 1001:
I bought two. The first arrived and made an awful CLACK CLACK (repeat forever) sound. I called Shark support and they wanted to replace it but would not, could not do a full refund if the problem remained. So back it went (full refund.)
The second one was āon saleā and new (again.) The CLACK CLACK repeating noise was still there (LOUD!) so it was a sure bet this was a bad design. This time Shark support claimed it was normal operation. Something about self cleaning. At this point it became clear this was a HOJ (hunk of junk.)
My advice is to be sure of your refund status. Maybe if they had enough returns they might fix it but from the two I received and other folkās feedback you shouldnāt bother unless you are hard of hearing.
Iāve bought two FACTORY refurbished Shark vacuums. Both looked largely, not entirely, new. The real issue was that the HEPA filters in both units looked new from the front but were clearly dirty on the back. I called Shark and they did not want to replace the filters even though I literally bought the vacuums the day before. Shark support suggested that the units were used and resold by the place where I got them. The packaging had clearly never been previously opened. Both vacuums have been operating fine for several years but Shark did not fully inspect nor fully refurbish the units.
Both yours and @escapehatches posts are useless without links/supporting data. If youāre going to take the time to post, at least make it useful, please.
They do make a clack (more like a click) sound. I thought mine was defective at first. Checked some YouTube videos and they all made the same sound. The sound is actually quieter than my Neatos and other roombas Iāve had. The Neato D6 now sits unused. I got tired of emptying it twice every time we ran it.
