SIGG Water Bottle Shield ONE 34 Oz

SIGG Water Bottle Shield ONE 34 Oz

These are pretty great. I got one because they were, as far as I could tell, the only brand that explicitly ‘supports’ carbonated drinks. I’m a soda stream nut, at least half of the beverages I consume are carbonated, and it absolutely gets the job done; Doesn’t leak, doesn’t come blasting out the top when I open it. It does open with a pretty significant report if you let pressure build for a bit, but it’s sorta weirdly satisfying, and startles my cats and/or girlfriend with sometimes amusing results, so I don’t think I’d call it a con.

The one real downside is that while this is a steel bottle, it is not a double-wall design. That means it won’t hold a temp well, and it’ll likely sweat quite a bit if you fill it with a cool beverage on a hot and humid day. I’m not sure whether or not hot beverages are ‘supported’ or recommended; Given the single-wall design, I’d think not, but I have double-wall bottles for those anyway so I’ve never felt inclined to try. They do sell a double-wall version, Shield THERM for about $10 more on the mothership.

There’s also no straw, nor an option for a straw other than carrying one separately, so if that’s what you like, look elsewhere. I find the opening to be a good size and shape; To small to fill through it, but big enough that I can actually drink from it instead of just sipping.
