No protein and slows weight loss, lol.
contains Glucomannan, a healthy and all-natural, water-soluble fiber that slows digestion and weight loss.
Before buying a 12 pack read the most recent reviews on Amazon about the taste and texture of this stuff.
A 6 pack is 21$ on Amazon, so this is a good deal.
The texture is not the same as real spaghet, and it basically has no flavor at all. It’s a little like chewing on rubber bands, but I prefer them to zucchini strips (Which, no matter what you do to them, always taste like zucchini).
Came here for this!
Glucomannan has had numerous studies done that show it significantly helped weight loss and health overall.
Effect of glucomannan on obese patients: a clinical study - PubMed has numerous studies showing that it is healthy for weight loss. As for protein, how much protein are you trying to get out of rice and pasta alternatives? This isn’t a body building product, it’s a keto-friendly replacement for other items that also have no protein.
As for the texture and taste: if you make it properly they aren’t bad. The taste is pretty much null so it picks up whatever you make with it. The texture is not actually pasta texture, but it’s not horrible. It’s a bit springy but it’s still a great alternative for people who can’t have normal pasta and rice.
Yeah, and zucchini strips don’t really ever get firmer. These you can fry a bit longer after to cook all the water off. So you can kind of mess with the texture a little bit. But still, all in all not bad.
I’d like to try it. And cheap per pack, great. Unfortunately, and ultimately what keeps me from me from buying almost any food on Woot, dropping $30 for 12 packs is not how you try something. It’s how you buy it when you already know you like it. Not going to spend $30 on something that I might want to throw out after a single bite. But alas, I can’t get a trial pack from Amazon in time to still buy this. Hence, I will not buy this or any food from Woot as long as they continue to offer unusual stuff in minimum 5 lb increments.
Have an option to buy one or two packs, even at more per pack, and then do the same deal next month, you might be on to something.
This stuff is good! But you have to go into it knowing what to expect, because although it’s good, it’s also nothing like actual rice or pasta (other than cosmetically). If you try it with the hope/expectation that it will be something you could mistake for real rice or pasta, you will be disappointed. If you try it with the expectation that it’s an unusual new side/supporting starch-like componemt that can be included in a dish, it is enjoyable.

More or less, yeah. Pretty much like rice noodles, they have little or no flavor of their own, you put them in the stuff they’re going to be served with to soak up some of that flavor, but it’s mainly just to bulk it up some.
