NO DIVX…FAILURE : (

I need something like this, but I have to have one with a tuner!

Maybe woot! could find me a HDTV that’s under 30" wide…

manuals!

¡en español!

in english!

gotta mix it up

I’m confused about the dubbing… does the one-touch dubbing copy from line in? I thought that was usually a feature of dual-deck recorders.

who uses divx anymore? Then again, who uses DVDs anymore? Either you have a bluray, want a bluray or are doing the download thing. And more than likely, you already have a dvd player that is working just fine.

pass.

Good try though.

I would have bought a roomba if you had it today. :.(

Too bad it doesn’t have ATSC tuner. That would make it totally worth it.

Every night at 10pm, my wife and I sing the song, “These are the rules of the woot-off…”
Thank you woot for bringing us closer together.

Here’s a review of this recorder.

lol the download thing usually has something to do with divx and who wants to pay 300+ for a blue ray that will be 100- in another year or two

Too bad it doesn’t come with LightScribe.

Clearly this is due to an impedance limitation.

Combined reviews on Amazon and CNet average out to 1.4375 stars.

Nice try, but:

+++ Means it won’t show those nice movies I brought from Europe +++

And that is a no go!

Yep it’s a paper weight.

Is it better to get a new DVD player that works a little better (right now I use my PS2; not working perfectly anymore) or just wait and save up a little more to get a blueray?

There are a lot of us who have extensive DVD collections. We can play these on our HD tv’s with something like this.

Some other DOD offered this model in the past couple of weeks. Sounds like a great deal but you’d be hard pressed to find reviews of this that speak favorably of it. Sometimes, even the great Sony misses in the marketplace.

Lots of questions:

-Can this record Over-The-Air programming? Does it have an ATSC tuner?

-The specs talk about recording modes on non-double layer media, but then they say it can record on double layer. Which is it?

-Will this record closed captions as well?

Really need the tuner to be useful.

What if you had 3 shows all starting at 8PM, and you could not be there to watch them because your mother just fell out of the second story window of her condo? The dual tuner cable box can get 2 of the shows, but without the tuner on your fancy refurbished Sony dvd recorder. Mom will have to miss the 8PM rerun of the Golden Girls Marathon. Hope she’ll recover…despite missing the Golden Girls.
