Tell Us What You're Streamin'

As the resident Woot detective, I’d be remiss if I did not set out my crime drama recommendations:

Netflix

  • The Killing
  • The Fall
  • Hinterland
  • Broadchurch
  • Happy Valley
  • Wallander
  • The Sinner
  • Dogs of Berlin [German language, but fantastic]
  • Sherlock (BBC) [OBVIOUSLY]
  • The Forest

And maybe the best of the bunch - Dark . If you like Stranger Things, you’ll love this, as it includes supernatural elements. [another German language, but well worth the subtitles]

Letterkenny is great. Speaking of shows that enter your every day discourse, me and my friends watched Bondi Rescue and I swear to you, for like two weeks, all my thoughts were in an Australian accent.
@wajeremy, Have you ever seen Bondi Rescue or been to Bondi beach???

Dark is great, so is Peaky Blinders and Broadchurch.

we’re also watching Fleabag.

other recommendations: Catastrophe (Amazon), Lovesick (Netflix), Schitt’s Creek, Master of None

I loved Kimmy Schmitt, too.

I never watched Bondi Rescue but I’ve been to Bondi Beach quite a few times. It’s way too touristy though so I usually go to much cooler hipster beaches that no one else goes to. With more sharks.

I watched a new Netflix show this weekend called, ‘Daybreak,’ and I’m a fan! It is a humorous take on the apocalypse style show. It’s a mix of Z Nation, Zombieland and for the young folks, Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide. The cast revolves around high school kids and Matthew Broderick lol.

Show: Daybreak
Site: Netflix
Why you should watch: If you like fun, apocalypse style shows, Daybreak is for you. Closer on the spectrum to Z Nation than the Walking Dead and doesn’t take itself too seriously. Has fun characters and a crazy plot, but it hooked me in episode 1.
Personal Rating: 8/10 BOC’s

This is a fantastic show. Up there with modern family and letterkenny as best comedies

Just started it. Any show that open up with LA being blown up by a nuke can’t be all bad.

What did y’all watch this weekend?!?!

I finished Daybreak and I enjoyed it. I’m VERY excited to watch season 2 of “End of the F*&%ing World” which I believed dropped today on Netflix. Also, we are one week away from Disney Plus coming into our lives, which means Star Wars, Marvel and the Simpsons are all available to stream soon! With Apple TV and Facebook Watch also stepping up their game with original content, we’re at a prime era for streaming!

I finished it up! Daybreak was a fun show. I’m currently watching “Patriot” on AMZN Prime. The first season had a definite “Dexter” dark humor vibe to me. I think the similar theme song helped create that impression. The second season they switched to a Beastie Boy theme song and added in some other music. It’s not as “dark” maybe the focus groups screwed it up. Anyway it’s been cancelled for a 3rd season so I hope it doesn’t end with a cliff-hanger.

Thanks for the Daybreak recommendation!

So I just started ‘Castle Rock’ on Hulu last night and so far so good. Anyone else see this show? Below is also my “What’s Next” list after I get caught up. (I’m a professional binge watcher)

The Mandalorian - Disney Plus
End of the F%$#ing World (S2) - Netflix
Goliath (S3)- Amazon

I’m a fan of Castle Rock. Haven’t started season 2 yet. Just finished Letterkenny’s newest season (not quite up to par). Now I’m a few episodes in to Jack Ryan S2; love it. Probably going over to S3 of Glitch on Netflix next.

Who is watching Disney+ today??? Well, if you’re able to bypass the server overload issues of course. Let me know what you’re most excited to watch on the new streaming service!

Mandalorian is top on my list. Rewatching some old 90’s cartoons is on the list as well. May try to introduce my kids to Gargoyles, Dark Wing Duck, and Spiderman that I grew up with.

I pay for Netflix so middle son signed up for Disney+. he really liked the Mandalorian, so that’s next up for me.

too many shows and not enough time/energy to watch

Agreed. I enjoyed the first episode of The Mandalorian. One of the things i like about Disney+ and Hulu is that a lot of their shows come out once a week so I can enjoy it when it comes out and I think you retain more information that way, compared to when you binge. (Although i like binging…). I’m also looking forward to watching “The World According to Jeff Goldblum.”

The Mandalorian was very good. Can’t wait for the next episode. Ending really set the tone for, the character and what kind of anti-hero he will be.

I watched the first episode of that last night. It was on sneakers. He’s such a character with his mannerisms and delivery. It was an interesting episode and I’m looking forward to future episodes.

Is that the plan? I went into this without reading any of the stuff about the show. If that’s the direction they’re going then this will be very interesting.

I loved the episode with the exception of one scene:

When he’s learning to ride he gets told once about his ancestors and now all of a sudden he can ride. Yes, I know that they probably couldn’t waste too much more time on this but it felt extra rushed.

I have no idea as I have stayed away from all spoilers including the previews. It just seems to be going that way with the plot line from the first episode.

ooh yes, that one too!

can someone tell my boss I need like 2 weeks off to watch everything?

I seriously considered getting “sick” yesterday at work to watch ALL THE THINGS but my conscience got the better of me.
