I’m interested - IF this is a good unit. DVD-RAM is a fantastic format: you can not only watch as you record with chasing play, you can swap the disks to any other DVD-RAM capable player, and watch them as-is. And they have a virtual lifetime lifespan - 100,000 record/erase cycles. Our analog cable just dropped HBO, and hey, hypopthetically speaking, wouldn’t it be nice to have a unit like this at the home of someone with digital cable and 20 movie channels…?
I don’t mind that it won’t record to DVD+R; but, apparently, it won’t play DVD+R either, and that’s a real deal-breaker. Not a good Woot at any price.
Toshiba makes great electronics, far better than those crappy RCA’s that are usually offered.
What formats? By double sided do they mean dual layer?
So when it says “playback / record of DVD-R” does that mean that it’s incompatible with a DVD+R?
But then you would have to set foot inside Wal-Mart… that alone is worth the shipping fee. In fact I’d pay double the shipping fee if it meant never having to walk into WallyWorld!!!
Besides, now I can transfer the 14000 Blue’s Clues and Sesame Street tapes to DVD so the baby can watch in the car this summer while we are on the road trip! Thanks Woot!
