Bought this last time it was up. Over priced and over rated IMO.
Truff has always struck me as a ‘giftable’ thing. Those things which might maybe be quality but no one ever really needs or wants, so its only really sellable as gifts. And it gets marked up because it’s just really there to make a social statement of “I spent X amount on a ‘nice’ thing for you that vaguely sounded like something you might like”
That said, I kinda enjoyed the truff mayo at Popeyes? Would I pay for a jar? No. But I would have gotten more of it as a cheap fast food addon.
Edit: Also, anyone notice how much truffle stuff is suddenly on the market? Truffle salt, truffle hot sauce, truffle shampoo, etc. Especially that’s getting clearanced out and trickling down to Woot! and other liquidators. Feels like they cracked the formula to growing commercially and want to rake in on it being ‘luxury’ before people realize how much more available it is now.
