I will call them tomorrow.

If you enjoy woodworking or enjoy the challenge of keeping your home ship shape, this tool is almost like the invention of the wheel. With the possible exception of the bench saw, there is no other shop tool that is as “go to” as the modern compound miter saw.

I’ve owned mine for 25 years when the cost of the tool was nearly $600. Keep in mind that $600 25 years ago is like nearly $2,000 today. I still own and use it and it operates the same as day one. We are getting a bargain today!

If you should consider buying one of these saws, and you should, make sure you go for the 10 inch #70751. The $50 you pay over the 12 inch is money VERY WELL SPENT. Why?..because it gives you far more control. The 10" has the capacity to bevel on both sides, left and right. The other can only bevel on the left side. Believe me, this makes a world of difference. Either way, this is an excellent saw and should provide you with years of service.

I have a non-sliding DeWalt that cost twice this on sale … and although I wish most of my bench tools were higher grade, chop saws are chop saws and this seems like a no-brainer if the motor checks out as a quality unit. Would trade mine for it and pocket the difference any day.

Looks like homedepot carries this saw under a different brand name…

Don’t know crap about these but i do know i got a 10 inch sliding miter saw from harbor freight for 80 bucks. i had a cupon but most of the time if they are on sale for around 90-100 bucks you can use thier 20-25 % off coupons. I just pulled up the 20% coupon on my phone and they scanned it. So i got one and refinished my breeze way and basement with it over the last 3 years. NEVER GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY as it is not worth it.

so if you can find a coupon and wait a bit it will go on sale and be cheaper. never pay more than 90 bucks for this thing.

I had a nice sliding miter saw that somehow I was foolish enough to loan to a neighbor that vanished with it. I picked up a 10" WEN at Menards for $125 and though I’ve only done one project with it, it seems to operate fine. Currently they have a 10" on clearance (model 70711) for $90 - probably the one I picked up last year. I wish I would have invested in one of these when I put laminate flooring down instead of using my table saw for all of the angle cuts. While it worked, this would have made it so much easier.

Check around locally for prices before jumping on this, unless you want to have it shipped. I knwo Menards aren’t everywhere, but WEN isn’t a top brand and a Harbor Freight brand may be as good, likewise the major hardware stores may have a comparable product/price.

Had a DeWalt that I loved for about 10 years until the motor on it burnt out. Had been looking for a new one with the dual bevel and sliding - thank you Woot! Can’t wait to use it Wen it comes in…too early for a bad play on words?

Here is a link to the last time this was offered. The discussion says china made.

Why is the 12" cheaper then the 10"?

Hey all, I’m asking for confirmation on the country of origin. I deleted a couple posts that were off topic.

Soooo, how about these miter saws, eh?

Why is the 12" cheaper then the 10"?
[/quote]

The 10" supports fractional degrees of cut. The 12" only does 45 degrees.

I bought the 12-inch Wen at Menards a couple years ago for $99.
It has a few quirks. The guard system gets in the way of the clamping system. I have issues with the blade not cutting all the way through the wood sometimes and leaving a small piece connecting.
It does the job, but it doesn’t do an awesome job. It has worked for the few jobs I’ve done, but I’d like a nicer one.

I’ve been looking for a compound miter saw. However, I have never heard of WEN. Any thoughts about them, or should I pay extra for a better recognized brand? Seems like a 15amp motor would be pretty decent compared to the super cheap ones at Home Depot. I’m a DIYer so it won’t get daily use.

HomeDepot sells this brand.

Looks like they have several size blades ranging in price from about $70 to $150.

Probably pass on this one and get a name brand even though my 25 year old Craftsman is looking pretty shabby.

Warning! Buy tools from Woot at your own risk. The last tool I bought from Woot – the Scheppach Plunge Saw and rails – was defective out of the box. The rails did not match up and the saw burned up on the first use. The saw has a one year warranty and I have contacted the manufacturer three times and have been lied to each time. Each time they tell me, “sure we’ll send you a new saw,” then they never do hoping I’ll go away. I have also contacted Woot twice and have gotten no reply at all. Now I’m mad and am writing the Federal Trade Commission and Florida’s Consumer Affairs Dept and reporting both Woot and Scheppach. I will never buy another tool from Woot until this is resolved.

[MOD: I’m sorry for the delayed response. I’ll email CS to let them know of your concerns. Thank you for your patience. ]
