What do you think of the Pokemon Go boycott?
Oh good Lord… Pretty sure there’s more important shit going on than some stupid game.
You obviously don’t know our VMs (volunteer moderators)… and MM (main moderator) TT!
I don’t even know what a VM is!
[well… except a Virtual Machine, but I doubt that’s what you meant]
It’s honestly ridiculous to encourage people to go out and start huddling up to Pokémon stops when the Delta variant is doing a number on everyone. Texas is pretty much at Stage 5 with a Governor that refuses to acknowledge it, or do anything to curb the infections. Then you have Niantic change the game that requires players to be at or inside that location. It’s not too much to ask for a wider range for those who don’t want to walk inside a store but rather walk past the store that has the PokéStop or Gym they want to spin for items or drop off a Pokémon at.
It would be one thing if the virus was clearly over, and infection rates were small. However, to implement a change in parts of the world that are still struggling with the virus is reckless.
I use to play the card game and Pokémon go with my younger foster kids. Excellent reason to get them out of the house and roaming the neighborhoods while on walks.
One of the kids found a charmander; chucked the phone at it while trying to catch the thing. Broke the phone. Caught the charmander.
On another search for Pokémon; both he, and my golden retriever got stuck in some bushes …
Couldn’t find one of the king saying this so
I do both, there are a lot of us out there that do both. Last night I had a DNF at a pokestop.
It kinda sucks on some of my daily poke stops that they are now unreachable. The idea of them making it smaller is quite oddish.
Oh I’ll still play… but I’ll be earning my coins through gyms, not through cash. They’re promising to “revisit” everything by their next season update on September 1st, so we’ll see how that goes…
a little after my time.
It made the game better and it wouldn’t have cost them anything to leave them. But angering their remaining players is a good way to get back in the news in a sad attempt to be relevant again.
That extra “t” in the third choice kinda freakt me out.
I really miss being able to drop a pokemon in a gym while driving by, even on the freeway sometimes (as a passenger, of course).
We have some stops now that we will have to park to step 10’ away from the car now to get in range. That’s not always doable in some locations (no parking) or if you’re on an errand.
And yes, this household boycotted as did a friend.
I really liked the extended range.
Boycott!?
Wait…
Is that a NEW pokemon?
Here are a few you might have missed from the next version, I think they are brushing against an R rating for the next game…
This is actually one of the most serious Woot polls I’ve ever seen. Most are goofy about Pepsi or Coke, but this concerns the customers of a multi-million dollar corporation. They are losing customers and money. It doesn’t affect most people, but at least 1 in 10 seem to have an opinion.
It’s relatively simple. Other than Tarrant county, all the largest populated counties are at 60+% with at least one dose, with most being 65-74%. Averaging 500k doses administered per week, the number of people in the state with some level of immunity is moving up probably about 1 to 1.5% per week (not including those who’ve had it and/or are getting it and recovering). The people who are choosing not to get vaccinated are probably never going to change their mind, so why exactly are you going to implement a bunch of mandates on everyone else when the most populous counties are already close to the maximum vaccinations they’re going to get?
If you’re not vaccinated, then you should probably be wearing a mask and taking precautions and yeah, I would probably include bunching up because of an app/game as being something to avoid, but that shouldn’t necessitate restrictions for everyone else.
I don’t play. But from what I understand, it’s similar to the Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mysteries game/app. (That’s a joke people.) Either way, a boycott not only hurts thier active user count, but it also hurts their data collection. Especially with iOS/Android tightening up security permissions for apps. You may not be able to catch them all, but catching zero because of a boycott is churn they don’t want/need.
