I found some more spring
Yay!! Some things just arenât meant to be right here right now. Even zero daffodils!

We took cuttings from our fig tree (that is itself a cutting from the tree that we had when I was a kid, that I am told came over from Sicily) using root/propagation balls because I want a backup just in case something were to happen to the original⌠I donât want itâs lineage to die.
as you can see⌠they are doing great. The one on the left is our misfit - out of the five we did, it was the last to show any signs of life - but I think itâs going to be the strongest. As soon as weâre sure itâs not dipping back down below 50° at night, weâll transplant them out in the yard in their forever plots.
What does forcing rhubarb mean?
For me it meant covering the rhubarb crown with a large dark pot as soon as I saw it start to poke up in the spring. The big commercial growers dig up their rhubarb crowns and transfer them to a hot, dark shed. The idea is that they start to grow earlier and faster, and that the dark makes them more tender and sweet. You can see in the foreground the rhubarb that wasnât covered is much smaller and greener, and wonât be ready for another couple weeks. Forcing takes a lot of the plantâs energy, that is stored in the roots, so you donât want to do this to the same plant two years in a row.
Campanula
(Provided a flower pot qualifies as a yard. I cheated and bought a plant to tide me over until my seeds sprout.)
Mayflowers! Happy May!
(Please ignore the corner crud, I didnât have a broom with me. )
And the ferns are opening up.
What isâŚMystery pots of dirt?!
Only three of them are mystery pots â the others are labeled.
