The definition of the word “supergroup” isn’t necessarily intuitive.

It kinda blows my mind that if Fred Durst, Yoko Ono, and the members of Nickelback were to get together to form a band, somebody somewhere would have the gumption to label them a “supergroup”. Although I would allow it could only be an improvement.

From a purely technical aspect, it has to be Creedence Clearwater Revival. Reason? They were the first group to ever command $50,000 for a performance, that was unheard of in the late 60s and early 70s.
