G Power. For the win. (Is this a Woot! after dark blurred product?)
I also didn’t realize that Gatorade made power equipment.
This seems like a very good deal.
I don’t think this does, but it’s a little hard to see the photo, but is there an eco mode?
G Power America (turn it over) Made in China
Maybe for small projects, but I wouldn’t depend on this thing. I suspect that if something happens and it’s covered under some kind of warranty, they’ll just replace it instead of offering parts to fix it (which could be a bad thing outside of coverage and you want to keep it going).
“Green-Power America, as the marketing and sales arm in the Americas for our affiliates in China, offers extremely competitive pricing, after care support to the consumer and well maintained inventory levels of product in distribution centers located in North America which support reliable and timely delivery to our customers.”
The description mentions an Eco Function (and Paralleiling, whatever that is):
3 in 1 Digital Indicator,ECO Function | Low THD <3% ,Paralleiling Function available | EPA Certified
Thanks. I missed that. Paralleling usually means you can run multiple generators and tie them together somehow. Never tried that and don’t know much beyond the concept.
If you’re going for a Chinese Honda motor clone, Predator will probably be a better option if you have a Harbor Freight nearby. I’ll admit that, when we first bought our house, didn’t have a lot of money, and a massive ice storm took down power for two weeks, I bought a cheapie generator. It worked at first, although the power was dirty as heck and the lights flickered. It didn’t take long before I was always fussing with it to keep it running. In the dark, with a flashlight. Something is better than nothing, though.
With paralleling, I’ve only ever seen the option to run a pair of generators together. They have to be synchronized or it makes a mess of the alternating current, and there is typically a special cable sold separately from the generators. You should never attempt to pair different brands/models of generators (assuming the cable can be jerry rigged to do so. Just don’t. ) Usually, but not always, this is a feature on higher end generators. I tried to zoom in on the low res photos and see if there is a connection for this feature, but without looking at the manual I can’t really tell.
Edit: I didn’t notice at first that it has an inverter. That is a really nice feature and will clean up the power for more sensitive devices.
It’s always a gamble to purchase these knock offs but I have a small WEN brand inverter gennie and it’s been great for many years.
Looking for something a little bigger than the WEN 2300 which can be used strictly for hurricane season.
I have a friend with a WEN. He’s got it MacGyvered as a standby generator for their solar setup. They’ve had great luck with it.
I agree with you: You never really know what to expect with the weird and obscure brands. This unit does claim to have a lot of nice features it its price point, though.
Found this on Amazon. Pictures are a little better. Sadly no feedback or reviews.
