What kind of metal is the probe?

if you put this on the grill, how long do you have until it melts?

It’s just about triple the price over at Amazon.

This one is hard to find reviews on. Surprising, cuz I was sure that bbq thermometers would be the next big thing after Throwdown with Bobby Flay blew up over the summer.

These actually ain’t bad. Especially for grilling when you slow cook something. Also they’re very accurate. I had a similar model but the tend to go for $30.+/-

Anyone know if the probe can be submerged in water?

Unobtanium, obviously.

Looks to me like they got it backwards. Wouldn’t it make sense to have just a transmitter with the thermometer, and something with a data screen on the receiver end? You know, so you can tell how the meat’s doing on the grill in January without going outside? Other similar products are set up this way.

And yes, if you have one of these, you’re far more likely to grill in the wintertime.

Ah, of course. :stuck_out_tongue:

I wonder if this could be used as a candy thermometer?

While cooking steaks tonight, my husband and I discovered the hard way that our meat thermometer has kicked the bucket.

Great timing, woot!

**I found it on Amazon for $29.95, reduced from $38.99!!

3 Stars, 4 Reviews…**

South Dakota and Nebraska bought the most…
I knew my states would buy a ton of BBQ items!

Haha

Stainless Steel
“■Heat resistant 3 foot stainless steel wire and cooking probe”

Can the metal probe or its contents (if any) “leach” or otherwise release any hazardous material into the cooking food?

I could use one of these for tailgating. My one from Oregon Scientific (didn’t get it from Woot) kind of sucks and needs to be replaced. Maybe if they last until the morning I am all over this.

Been shopping for one of these… in for 1.
