All-Clad MC2 14-Pc StainlessCookware Set

You will never regret buying this manufacturer or this set. Nor will you ever need another pan or pot (except maybe a cast iron fry [mine is the woot! one] or cast iron dutch oven) FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.

All my pots are All-Clad and everytime I cook in them I am reminded of how pleased I am with their purchase!!

Wow, what a great deal. I think when I first both my all-clads, it was an 8 piece (from Macy’s). I never had any regrets about it. This looks like a great variety – you will only possibly want to supplement with like a 14" saute pan (6 qt?) for the really big meals. Otherwise, this pretty much covers the foreseeable bases.

Holding these is like grabbing a dull double-edged knife by the blades.

Can’t miss with All-Clad, it is without a doubt the best cookware available - but buy an old cast iron skillet at a flea market (far superior to anything new).

12 quart pasta pot is a great item also - not so much for pasta but for seafood (clams & lobster).

Yes! I thought so. That is the only reason I wouldn’t buy All-Clad.

Is this made in the United States?

Yes, this is made in the USA.

Is this the 5-ply or the 3-ply? Which one should I aim to get? I’ve heard that the 5-ply is better but I’m not sure whether it is worth it.

Why can’t all-clad figure this out!? Even WS’s store brand has much better handles than these.
That said, this is an excellent price on great cookware. No matter what, all cookware looks like cr@p after a short time…no amount of barkeepers friend is gonna help.

I’ve read that it’s 2-ply, but the aluminum layer is rather thick. Also, the outer layer is aluminum. I’ve got a much cheaper set of aluminum nonstick pans, and the bare exterior aluminum stains and scratches pretty easily, though not sure if that’s a property of aluminum or the quality of the pan.

Review on MC2

If only they were induction-friendly…

How little stainless steel is in these to make an induction burner not work?

Found this on the All-Clad site.

Apparently the idea is that you’re supposed to grab the handle with your hand underneath it, not on top of it. Your fingertips then go into the crevice to provide extra grip. Try it out next time you see these in the store - it makes a lot more sense!

I agree with you fully. Got mine a few years ago and supplemented with a cast iron pan and Dutch oven.

Hey…you’re not my wife are you?

Are these pans suitable for glass topped ranges?

Yep.

Compatible with all stovetops, except induction
