Anyone else unable to pair the remote with this thing right out of the box? I have 2 and NEITHER of them have been able to pair while setting up.
During start-up the screen says push home button to pair. When it doesn’t pair, it says hold home button 10 seconds til the light starts blinking. Also didn’t work.
Tried the unplugging for 60 seconds and the remove batteries/ replace and hold home and left buttons method. Still no go. Are they both defective or maybe packed with wrong remote?!

Hi there, if you haven’t already done so please contact Woot! Customer Service. To speed things up, let them know if you prefer a return/refund or a replacement (if possible).

Please allow 24-48 hours for them to respond.

Browser: Use the Woot! Customer Service form.

Woot! App: Choose Account from the bottom navigation and then Support.

Self-Return: Items without Li-Ion batteries can be self-returned within 30 days. Go to your Order Details to get started. The return label will be emailed from UPS.

Note: Woot! Customer Service replies go to the email address on your Woot! account, not your Amazon login email if used/different.

(Please Note: I’m not employed by Woot, but I volunteer to help in the forums.).

I just got one of these. They sent the wrong remote. If yours has a power button on the upper left, it’s a newer remote and incapable of pairing with a 1st generation device.

I contacted support and they said the unit s are old. That’s a poor excuse for not sending the correct equipment no matter how inexpensive.

One option, if you have an Iphone is to download the FireTV app. That gives you a measure of functionality.

The downside is that you most likely need to be hard wired to your router. I tried to use Wifi but the device wouldn’t respond to allow that.

Another option is to get a remote from Ebay. Just make sure it’s the one without a power button and specifies 1st generation.

I found the unit pretty responsive and robust enough for 4k content. Keep in mind that you won’t be able to update it past OS level 5.

Good luck :+1:

Correct. I couldn’t pair one of the 3 received it did have the wrong remote. So, even with the 1st gen no volume controls remote it would not sync. I believe it was still linked to a
previous user or something. Received a replacement and ofcourse the wrong remote again! Horrible. I thought after updating it would work with gen 2 remote…of course it does not! Glad to see they took the listing down. I might see if the old lite firestick listing is still up to see if it has 1st gen remote.
