It is a matter of intentional practice design and staffing ratios matched to demand. We have 2 same day appointments built into each Providerā€™s schedule for episodic moderate illness (severe goes to ED) so usually can accommodate. Triage slots for post hospitalization within 48 hours. It was not this way 20 years ago. It all evolved to try to be responsive. You might ask them if they can redesign. If they laugh bitterly, try to find alternatives.

Are Patients here still grumpy. Yup, they complain they have to pay $3 to park - not knowing / caring that staff take turns in rotation parking in the neighborhood so there are more spaces for Patients to park!

Grass is greener on the other side - even when it is crabgrass.
Now she wants you to retire.
Retire, and she will may you to have hobbies outside the house.

Happy median suggestion - what does she wish to do? Spend some time together? Visit family? See places? Just talk? Any and all the above may be possible without fully retiring. Consider taking some 4 days weekends and get some of those memories done ā€¦together.

I wish I hadā€¦when my dear Wife was still alive. Life is finite. Time together precious.
Best wishes for happiness.

I understand but being an international student itā€™s not easy to get that either. Any suggestions in present job market?

If I had a dollar for every time I thought or dreamed about retirement, I would have $137,212.37 (after taxes). Still not enough to retire on. Maybe in a few years.

Retired Military been getting a pension for years, but still in the workforce because the pension is not enough to live on.

There was a brief period between when I got out and when I went to college, so I could get a civilian job that actually pays, where I was 100% retired. It was during that time in my life that I learned that you do not have time to work.

Wife says I am allowed to go full retirement again in 2025, I will probably get a part time job then just to have something to do.

You have strengths of insight and language skills! Provided you are legally able to work, you absolutely CAN build on that as strengths.

I can ā€œretireā€ from my current job in 12.5 more years but then Iā€™ll have to find another job to support my insulin addiction for at least another 15. T1D is expensive.

I wish! I have a few more years to go (much more than Iā€™d like).

Well, since I havenā€™t won the lottery, Iā€™m not independently wealthy, and Iā€™m not old enough - yet, Iā€™m still just dreaming about retiring.

I will work until I drop dead, like most of us in the USA. There isnā€™t any possibility of retiring before ~75 years oldā€¦ right at the life expectancy of people in the USA.

No :weary: and I have 14 years until thatā€™s a possibility. But I just celebrated 17 years at my current job, so at least Iā€™m over halfway! Although the lottery could help that situation. :crossed_fingers:t2:
