Iā€™m retired for 12 years!:grinning: There hasnā€™t been one moment of regret or boredom. My income is twice what it was when I was working full time. The freedom feels so good! It wasnā€™t easy to get here but after working for 45 years and saving and investing carefully, Iā€™m happy to be here now!

Iā€™m a different form of retired - permanently disabled. Other than some small side gigs like paid surveys and as a poll worker during election season for some ā€œwalking aroundā€ money, I rely on disability.

Seems the question is not as simple as yes or no.
Some leave a job or career after so many years and then do something else. Maybe be a part ime gig, go back to school for the thing you wanted to do but put off or volunteer in some way. Maybe do something seasonal in another part of the country or connecting with neighbors youā€™ve said ā€œHiā€ to for years. And so much more.

Military retired - still canā€™t afford to live and so Iā€™ve got about 25 more years before I can retire from this other job

That is a fantastic program! More employers should offer that to their retirees! When you do ā€œre-retireā€ youā€™ll have more money to do all the things you want to.

Retired, yes. Awesome? Well not so much.
Iā€™m still fighting to get my pension. So far $700.oo in certified paperwork. Now I have a new contact to fight withā€¦
Medicare? Thatā€™s a 6 day search and sign up every year to remain covered.
Im beginning to think they try to maximize your stress so you die sooner and save the govt money.
Retiring soon? Take a Valium before making that first phone call.

Retirement is a dream statistically speaking. One income family living the dream of working til you die or canā€™t.

ā€œRetiredā€ - from career. Living off savings. Full time caregiver for family. No pay. No vacation or holidays. No backup. Makes office work a pleasant alternative. :persevere:

The kittehs wonā€™t let me. They know Iā€™d spend even more time outside helping the sea turtles. Soā€¦here we sit snuggled on the couch working. But at least thereā€™s that.

Retired 7yrs ago July. Able to live on SS and Medicare after paying in 50yrs, but now realize I made huge mistakes. When I look around, I should never have served my country, gone to college or worked. Should have turned my severe arthritis into a disability before a shoulder and 2 knee operations. Thankfully retirement doesnā€™t require much movement other than banging on my keyboard trying unsuccessfully for a BOC
