Asus VivoBook 17 Laptop, 17.3" HD Display

Asus VivoBook 17 Laptop, 17.3" HD Display

The specs don’t say what kind of usb ports there are. Is there 2 usbc ports or is one of those holes a Kensington lock? It looks like there is a micro sd card slot but it’s not listed in the specs either. Comes with 16GB ram, is that shared with the video? What’s the maximum ram? It has a 1TB SSD, can it handle a 2TB SSD if I want to upgrade in a few years? I hate it when we’re just supposed to guess when spending over $800 for something, or is $800 the new $5.00? Does anybody know if Asus is any good? I’ve got a Lenovo that’s 7 1/2 years old that I’ve added ram and am on my 2nd SSD that’s running great, but that’s a lot of years for any laptop to live!

I see on Best Buy that it can/will be updated, so my guess is it can, unless they are lying.

I don’t think the 2 cell battery will get anybody very far with a full charge, but I don’t buy a 17" laptop for portability. Still, it’s nice to be able to use it a bit on battery and 2 cells is a very small battery, isn’t it?

Asus is a good brand, but I don’t know about this model. I have bought ASUS for my mom given the low repair rate. Does not have as good of a reputation for customer support, but if it has fewer problems, less of a need for customer support, the last two have lasted at least 5 years. I have at least 8 year old Lenovo I bought here new as well. I only buy new here.
The Intel processor is pretty fast but not super gaming fast PassMark - Intel Core i7-1065G7 @ 1.30GHz - Price performance comparison
If it is the last model (the ASUS website is selling windows 11 on it now), I am assuming it will run windows but someone like ThunderThighs can say who knows better.

$849 at Worst Buy, screen res is surprisingly low especially for a 17” screen… No touch screen, no webcam. An odd machine.

I bought this at Best buy when it was on sale a few weeks ago for I think for $780. I don’t mind not having a touch screen. I only charge it every other day and probably get about 6 hours out of the battery. Not a huge gamer anymore but plays left 4 dead well. A lighted keyboard and webcam are missed a bit. Can’t believe how fast it boots, its about 5 seconds, but its my first SSD.
