Does this make for a good hiking boot?
Is the fit comparable to other New Balance shoes? I only wear New Balance sneakers.
Is it all man-made materials? I don’t wear leather.

Yes, they make great hiking boots. Either the brown or the black ones.
Yes, the fit is the same as NB athletic shoes. Order the same size and width.
If you look at the list of materials, I don’t see the words “leather” anywhere. So at least according to the product description, it’s all man made stuff. (Which is mostly made from oil pumped out of the ground so that’s not so eco friendly either).

anybody know if they are waterproof up to a certain height? I own an irrigation company and constantly are walking through mud or water and tend to wear out my boots in about 3-5 months.
Helpful tip, if you buy Red Head shoes or boots at Bass Pro shops, they have a one year no questions replacement warranty, and when you get the replacement the warranty starts over for another year.

Reinforced heel and toe- I’m assuming it’s not steel but molded plastic?
No steel reinforcement. There is a heavy layer of whatever synthetic fabric wrapped at the heel and toe.
I weigh 2 pounds more with them on vs off, so it looks like they are about a pound per boot.
I bought a pair of these from Woot a little over a year ago. As others have said, the size/fit is about the same as other New Balance shoes. I put SuperFeet insoles in mine and they were very comfortable without much of a break-in period. They have been worn for a variety of activities (walking, hiking, air travel, casual social functions) and they have held up well. Pretty decent ankle support. I think I got my money’s worth out of these.
I don’t know what ‘wide’ means. That’s not like ‘EEE’.
Also a problem if the size doesn’t fit.
