Blue Microphones USB Mics

I bought a Yeti Pro two woots ago. First I had to send it to the Blue for a “gain modification” then it came back and the USB circuit failed three days later. Now it’s back at Blue again. I love the mic, but buying a refurb may have been a mistake.

I also bought a Yeti Pro two Woots ago and have had no issues and am very happy with it.

Buying refurb does seem like it can be a bit of a crap shoot - my refurb Dyson vacuum is like new, but I had read of some previous buyers getting DOA vacs.

IMO the deals are good enough to warrant the risk, and I trust Woot, if not the manufacturer, to make things right if I get a lemon.

I am a radio talk show guy and also do voiceovers, audiobooks, etc. For casual use I use several Blue products, but I found the TIKI to be a real dud. Others have echoed my sentiment on that. It just sounds bad.

As usual, you get what you pay for, and there is a reason some mics cost $700-$1,500 or more. There are exceptions, such as the MCA SP1 mic, which performs far above it’s price tag of under $100. but that is the exception, not the rule,.

But for podcasting, etc., that is probably a waste of cash.

Bought the Blue Yeti. I use it to teach live lectures online and got about 3 weeks out of it, and it just stopped working…doesn’t pick up anything now.

I’m not sure if they warranty is still valid, but please feel free to email into Woot Member Services at support@woot.com and let them know.

I’m sure they’ll be able to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Bought a refurbished Blue Yeti about a month or so ago for podcasting use. First one we got was DOA, but Woot graciously exchanged it without trouble. The second one works, but there’s an underlying hum to everything we record that doesn’t seem right to me. I don’t believe it’s the environment. Does anyone with experience with one of these have any advice on the hum; whether that’s likely an artifact of the refurbishment, or typical, or fixable?

I bought the Snowball upon request from my mom, for Mother’s day (I bought it new, from elsewhere, last week). It came early, she got it early, she loves it. That is all.
