Breville K-Cup Coffee Machine
K-Cup??? h-a-h-a!
Nespresso all the way!
It’s apples and oranges. I have a Nespresso too for when I want a nice espresso or latte. For my regular coffee fix I use the Keurig.

Whoever got in on this Breville Keurig today got an awesome brewer at an awesome price! Hope some of my Twitter followers were able to get in on it.

If you were able to get in on this, here’s a great pace for the Keurig K-Cups that go with it called Shoffee.com. They to have the best selection, and the prices are very reasonable.

Here’s that site:

My niece has a similar Keurig model. The coffee it produces is pretty good, but I don’t really see the point of these K-cups. It’s slightly quicker/easier, but I never found coffee making to be all that much of a hassle to begin with – especially if you have one of those coffee makers that doesn’t need paper filters.

Also, as a hardcore coffee guy, I prefer grinding the beans myself right before making my coffee. Nothing really compares to the flavor you get that way.
As a bunch of us have pointed out, you can do that with this.
My main complaint about these machines is that no matter what size cup you choose to make, you still have to use an entire disposable K-cup and then throw it out. If one K-cup can make a 12oz cup of coffee, it seems like a waste to use one for just 6oz and then throw it away.
There are many misconceptions here. First, no, again, you don’t have to use a disposable K-cup at all. And when you use the My K-cup, you can put as much or as little of the fresh grounds into the filter basket and brew at any of the sizes, which gives you much finer control of the brewed coffee than one typically gets with the standard drip pot. And you can do that, to a lesser extent, with the commercial K-cups too. The next time you’re at your niece’s, do some sampling.
You also obviously can’t adjust the amount of coffee you use per cup, since the K-cups are sealed.
The point isn’t the amount of coffee you use; the point is the strength and quality of the extraction. And as noted, you get different results by brewing different sizes. Also as noted, the My K-cup basket gives you all the flexibility you could ever want.
I see there are accessories for getting around some of these problems. However, using those you basically end up with a traditional coffee maker, pouring the loose coffee yourself – only now, you’ve spent a lot more money.
And gotten much better results IMHO.
If you really need to save those 2 minutes you lose making coffee using a traditional coffee maker, then maybe this is worth it. Not for me though.
Fair enough, but you’d think that as long as you have easy access to one, you may as well actually try it. You seem to want the same thing day after day and that’s fine but this isn’t for that person. This is for the person who might want a stronger or a milder coffee, a bigger or a smaller cup, a cooler or a hotter brew, even on consecutive cups.

I have actually tried it, and as I said, the coffee is pretty good. I just don’t see the point, aside from saving 2 minutes.

A regular coffee maker is capable of variation day to day, and even cup to cup. Just brew one cup at a time instead of a whole pot. In fact when I make coffee, I generally only make one cup at a time.

Of course I did already point out the accessories, and this was the only comment that actually took that into consideration. The problem, as I said, is that once you buy the accessories, you now have a more expensive traditional coffee maker.

If this thing along with the accessories offers “better results” than a regular coffee maker, I really haven’t seen that, nor have you pointed out what exactly is better about the results.

What is exactly needed to use the My K-cup. The recondition unit stated the K-cup is not included. Looking at the part list, buying the complete My K-cup part will runs you about $18.

here is the list of items:

My K-cup filter holder $6.00
My K-cup coffee holder $6.00
My K-cup filter holder lid $6.00
You need all three, that includes free shipping and is only $3.00 more than Keurig My K-Cup and better quality.

Anyone have any idea on the charcoal filters? Can we just purchase the replacement filters on Breville website or is the water reservoir not equipped to handle them?

I was also wondering about these filters. I’m assuming since the unit is refurbished we need to buy new filters? I saw these filters on the breville website in a six pack going for $29.99. Alternatively, they are sold on amazon for $28.49. Is this something we need to get and change regularly (every few months)?

I saw a piece that they have on the Breville website hat holds the filter. I’m wondering if it’s missing the holder or just the filters themselves. I also think the filters are supposed to be replaced regularly (every two months or so?). If anyone has any pertinent info, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

What a price!! I have this unit and bought another for my cabin.

can’t wait for my to ship and get to NC

it will be my first k-cup machine of any type

Does anybody has a good place or website to buy the kcups, amazon subscription looks good.

I go to Bed Bath and Beyond, they sell 12 for 9.99, so if you can get the 20% off coupon you can get some for a good deal.

Amazon K-cups

http://www.shoffee.com

Those two have the best deals from what I have seen. I was told that if you want to get them local, Best Buy has a decent selection in some stores.

Shipping Update

Breville K-Cup Coffee Machine should be finished shipping out by the end of today. Tracking information should be emailed soon. Alternatively, try clicking the following link and use your ORDER NUMBER as the reference number.

Amazon is a great place to get K-Cups, I’ve also bought from Coffee4Less.com.

If you do a search for Coffee4Less coupon there’s almost always a 5% coupon off, sometimes 10%, and there’s usually free shipping for orders over $50.

This brings it to about $0.47/cup if you order more than $50 worth. I don’t think that’s the greatest of discounts/deals, but not bad. The advantage to Coffee4Less is that you can buy just one box of 24 (as opposed to a two-pack from Amazon)

I look at on a ‘per-cup’ basis and the best deal I’ve come up with is on Amazon. It ends up being about $0.43/cup depending on what combination of brands you get, and it’s free shipping after $25.

On Amazon they come in two-packs, so you need to be sure you like what you’re ordering, or you might be stuck drinking coffee/tea/cocoa you don’t care for, or trying to pilfer it off on guests. Those are the only two sites I have experience with.

kenozacoffee.com seems really cool because you can buy individual cups and try them before you buy a full box of them. The cups run around $0.46/cup, but the shipping for them is about $9.00, so it jacks the price up quite a bit. So you pay for the ability to customize.

If there are better deals out there I’d love to hear about them!

There is a $10 off coupon for kenozacoffee.com, search google. You may have to play around with the last two numbers, but it works.
Shipping for me was $6. You can get 8 K-cups for $0 if you use the $10 off coupon with $4 worth of k-cups at 46 cents each.

Received mine today (living 2.5 hrs away from Woot is nice!).

A few random thoughts:

 1. It’s bigger than it looks in the picture
 2. It seems to really be well made.
 3. It includes 18 K-cups of varying kinds.
 4. You can definitely tell it is a refurb though from the various knicks and scratches (especially on the back). I don’t care because I would have never bought a k-cup machine if it hadn’t been for this good of a deal.

I’ve tried one K-cup (caribou) and it was pretty good. A little strong but still tasty. I also bought the My K cup so I can use my own coffee. For $80, it seems to be a really good deal with all the bells and whistles this thing has. We’ll see how well it holds up.

still waiting on mine here in NC, tracking says that it should be here tomorrow

hopefully i will be posting a very positive review soon

Got my today, 6/10/2009 (Northern VA). Brewed first cup of Tulley French Roast, good coffee. Waiting for My K-cup to try with my favorite roast.

Waiting on mine to arrive in NC as well. It’s in Charlotte now, so hopefully it’ll be delivered tomorrow.

I didn’t realize that it comes with some k-cups already, so I’d ordered some from shoffee.com. They shipped really quickly and had nice sample packs at low prices. I’ll definitely be using them again! I got the coffee in two days.
