Sam’s club has a member’s mark version of these, honestly just as good and you get 36oz for $10.58. I’m not sure why these cost soo much and why the MSRP is $70.

  2. Prices have to be higher because the value of Jeff Bezos stock is way down.
  3. Thanks for the tip on less expensive caramels. Costco sells 36 ounces of Sanders Sea Salt Milk Chocolate Caramels for a reasonable price, especially when they are on sale. (They aren’t so reasonable at $46.99 for two 36 ounce containers online.)

I googled the Member’s Mark version and the ingredients aren’t horrible. They’re actually fairly comparable to the Candy Basket version.

As for the reason why they’re so inexpensive at Sam’s? First of all, you need a $45/year membership to buy them there, and Sam’s probably considers them a loss leader. Second, Member’s Mark products are available at stores other than Sam’s (including Amazon), and they’re priced just as high (or higher) than the ones being offered on Woot today, which leads me to believe Sam’s does use them as a loss leader.

Sam’s Club often offers a $45 gift card with a new membership (which offsets the entire cost) so if you were planning on shopping there anyway …

Candy Basket Fleur de Sel Chocolate Covered Caramels are the BEST caramels we’ve ever had. Tender but not gooey, full of rich buttery flavor, sweet but not sickeningly sweet, and there are 50+ big cubed caramels in a box. Plenty for everyone. Shared them with the whole extended family at Christmas last year and they got raves all 'round. (We bought the milk chocolate ones, delivered right to our door.)

50 caramels in a 1lb. Box? I wouldn’t have expected that many, but I have no idea how many I might have been expecting.

It lists 56 pieces in a 2 lb box, or 28 pieces per pound.

Sanders Sea Salt Milk Chocolate Caramels are $9.99 for a 36 ounce plastic jar at Costco when not on sale. I ordered a mixed set from this offer to see if they are as good as claimed by some reviewers.
