Derby entry comments for Derby #608: Sweet Land of Liber-Tee

This is great!

Love it!

Black shirt. Or Navy. Something where the design can blend into the blank. That would make this one really good.

Thanks!

There were quite a few iterations in this one. My first major attempt was my New Colossus design last year.

I use Google Sketchup to get the wireframe down and tweaked

Once I’ve got my model(s) and angle(s) down, I use Illustrator for text placement.

I use DAZ 3D Bryce for textures and shading

I use Photoshop to assemble the files and do the separations/halftoning.

There is a lot of trial and error bouncing back and forth between Bryce, Illustrator and Photoshop to get things “just right”.

Appreciate the insight. Really nailed it on this one. Nice job.

I feel the need… GMV cool piece

I agree nice job. GMV

Damn, can’t go wrong with Abe and this just goes together. GMV

Sick design. I agree it would look good on black, but then again what doesn’t

Great work! Really dig the style. +1

Ha. Nice one. Nailed the style

Victory for all!

I like the simplicity of message here, but it might be too generic. More than a few variations of this exist.

Just beautiful. And thanks for the info.

Please make this shirt even if it does not win the derby

Thank you sir.

Thanks marcee!

Thank you! It definitely took a lot of work to make something so “simple”. Eric Carle has a few videos online on his process, and it mostly involved physical pasting of paper on a board, and that creates transparencies and such. Getting it to translate digitally took some experimentation, but I was happy with how it came out.

The whole thing is in illustrator, BTW. No photoshop at all.
