Welp, thats an OK deal
Yes is sounds like an OK deal, with 2 batteries is good. I wonder if they are the small (1.5AHr) ones, or maybe 2.0? I don’t see it in the specs, or photo.
I think if you take into consideration the overall set,
which is brushless and comes with two batteries, not just one like most of their tools, makes this a pretty good deal.
Also at this price you get more for the money than even something like Ryobi’s brushless value drill which is saying something.
Plus buying this let’s you get DeWalt bare tools moving forward since you’ll have the batteries and charger already, well provided you aren’t trying to power like a circular saw or something similar.
Personally I have all Ryobi tools. I’m neck deep in their 18v battery system with like 15 tools and I already have the brushless hammer drill from them but I still picked this up for around the house for all the reasons I mention above and since it’s $20 cheaper here than a big box stores.
So that’s my opinion, hopefully folks find this helpful.
It does, thank you!
By the way, THANK YOU, Woot! for accurately reporting the price/savings on this. It is indeed $99 on the mothership, which is purportedly a discounted price from $169 list. Not misrepresenting the actual savings by claiming the $79 is discounted from $169 is a welcome bit of honesty. I am so impressed I am actually buying one of these right now.
Okay, full disclosure: I was buying one anyway as this is a good deal, but I still appreciate the truth in price advertising.
About a year ago, I replaced all my cordless tools (Craftsman) with DeWALT.
I purchased this drill in a set with the matching impact driver, then later purchased the string trimmer, blower, and wet/dry vacuum.
When I started researching, I really thought I initially thought that I’d go Makita or Milwaukee, but DeWALT has such a bigger selection of cordless tools.
Everything I’ve purchased so far has surpassed my expectations!
The drill and driver are compact, but have had plenty of power for anything I’ve needed.
The leaf blower has about the same power as my previous 2 stroke model (but is WAY more convenient).
The string trimmer is much more powerful than my previous model (although, re-stringing it is a pain).
The vacuum has been the surprise of the group; it gets used almost daily (huge help yesterday while I cleaned up from a leaking water heater).
If you’re wanting a comprehensive cordless system, nobody else offers more than DeWALT.
Wasn’t there a previous deal similar to this about a month or two back?
Yes, there was a similar deal several weeks back for the same price but it was for the unit with the standard motor and not the brushless motor like you see here. This one is actually a better deal as the brushless motor adds value - the same capacity battery will last longer with a brushless motor design (all else being equal). Add the matching impact driver (literally, one of those “What did I ever do without it” tools) to this drill and you have an excellent set for a home handyman or weekend warrior without crushing your budget.
With the forum change my previous comments on this repeat deal have been lost, but as an owner (gifted) of this exact kit last Christmas, take note that there are no clips on the drill body to hold your bits. Even my ancient 18V Dewalt has those. On this model the clips are extra and about $10/ea on the mothership. So for most of us who use those to store your two most commonly used bits so you’re not fishing around for them all the time, add another $20 to this price.
Home Depot’s site show this kit has the 1.3ah batteries.
The old comments are being converted to move over. BIG job. You won’t be able to get to them from the old sale page but the forums have a pretty darn good search.
I have this kit also. I bought a 2-pack of the bit clips on the mother ship for 7.99, I can see them there now 2 for < 10 bucks, free prime shipping. I agree, though, that it would have been nice to have them included, like every other drill I have purchased. More useful to me than the belt clip.
But as far as the drill, I think it is great! Lots of power. The batteries are the smaller ones, but seem to last forever. I got the bigger batteries here on Woot a few weeks ago, so I now have 4 batteries and am all set as I add other tools (like my brand new brad nailer, which also works great).
I’ve had this exact kit for about a year and it’s terrific. Yes, the batteries are the smaller capacity, but for around the house work and regular shop use, it has performed like a champ for me and I haven’t drained them yet. I thought it was a great buy when I bought it at $99, so that’s 20 extra dollars of happiness for you.
Hi there. the batteries are DCB207 1.5Ah batteries.
I have this kit. Works pretty well. The minor gripes I have are the lack of a little slot to hold bits (my old B&D that died had that) and I got excited about the belt clip only to find out it’s an add-on accessory and not included. 2 batteries is good because they don’t seem to last exceptionally long.
I was one of those who bought the standard drill last month for the same price. I use it around the house often. Really wish it was the brushless one like this
Wow, Woot! I ordered it yesterday, and it was delivered today! It showed up in good shape, if I have any “complaint” it was shipped in the manufacturer box.
But for $20 off the big box store price, I’ll live with the shipping label on the original box.
I ordered some drill bits from Lowes. https://www.lowes.com/pd/DEWALT-68-Pack-Screwdriver-Bit-Set/1000086083
Nope, they are DCB207 1.3A batteries. Mine arrived today, and that’s what is in the kit.
I still like what I got at the price I got it for, though.
