Dyson Ball Animal Pro Upright Vacuum

Thank you - I just assumed it followed some of their other model’s shortened names (DS40, etc.). I was mistaken. Registering it on their website showed me the error of my ways. Reaching out in the next 12 hours. Thank you again!

Just an update:
Dyson’s support seems to have been given a lot of flexibility and power to move mountains for customers. They are very cordial, apologetic, and sincere - they’re human. My vacuum was sent in for repair on the company’s dime, and didn’t even require that I had the original packaging (I stupidly destroyed it thinking there wouldn’t be any issue). Unfortunately, this is where the problems began.

Communication from Dyson after receiving my refurbished vacuum in need of repair was broken. I did receive mention that the product was received, and being worked on. Later that same day I received three messages, two of which were from repair centers and they were two different physical repair center locations: One said the vacuum was ready for pickup (ummm…? it’s 200+ miles away), and the other that they’d begun repairing it (received after the “ready” email, but also keeping in mind it was from a different location, many hundreds of miles from the first). The other email was that the part I’d ordered was shipped to me (I hadn’t ordered a part - and ironically I did, in fact, receive a part).

Time passed, no further automated communication. I reached out to their support again, and in doing so also noticed my account’s registered product had been wiped from my account. I’m not sure if it was a coincidental web issue, or if some aspect of the repair caused it; it eventually came back though. So when I reached out to support again, they told me that they saw my vacuum was unrepairable (I disagree since I knew what was wrong, but they might have policies on what is allowed to be repaired for customers and what isn’t). The support assured me that a replacement would be sent out right away. I got an email soon after that apologizing that stock was out of my particular model, and I wouldn’t receive a replacement until more stock came in, but rest assured I’d get one as soon as possible.

Two months go by with no further communication, and I reach out again - the status is the same. There is no stock of my particular model, and once stock is available, I will receive my replacement. Rest assured! The support technician unfortunately does not have the ability and/or access/information to provide any sort of estimate (which I understand, but it still stinks).

Still without a vacuum bought about a half a year ago. Thankfully this wasn’t a necessary replacement purchase, it was a, “Everyone tells me how wonderful Dysons are, and this is a good deal. I’ll give it a shot!”

Still waiting to give it a shot. At least it was under warranty and fully covered.

NOTE: I’m not complaining and expecting Woot to fix this, this is outside of their control. I’m simply sharing my personal experience and story. I suspect mine is not completely unheard of, but overall is likely uncommon.

Of interesting note, I’d been patiently waiting until ~2 weeks ago for my replacement from their stock, of which apparently never came to be (no stock), and yet today, April 25, 2024, Woot is selling overstock of factory reconditioned models again. INTERESTING…

As stated before, thankfully Dyson’s support team has a decent amount of capability to assist customers. Although (~2 weeks ago, when I called again) the support had to raise my concern to a higher level support that only he could directly speak to (fine by me), Dyson ultimately decided to ship me their factory reconditioned Dyson Ball Animal 2 (which is a slightly superior model to the Animal Pro). The “Pro”, according to a thread on Reddit, supposedly was a model sold specifically from Costco. Whether that’s true or not I don’t know. What I do know is that I now, finally, have a working Dyson vacuum to pick up dirt! Woot!

Thanks for following along on my journey.

P.S. - My new-to-me vacuum’s warranty period has started over again (in case anyone was curious).
