Fire HD 10 Tablet (2019, 9th Gen)

I just bought the new Fire 10 Plus, but I like this 2019 9th Generation better. I bought it here last year, and it looked brand new. Not a scratch or flaw anywhere.

The Amazon apps are limited, and Amazon no longer offers Woot app on any of the Fire tablets. Bummer.

For this price, you cannot go wrong.

Why do you prefer the older one? I have both and the most noticeable difference to me was the form factor, which I vastly prefer on the new model (less long and skinny). Other than that, they feel about the same in use, with the only real advantages being twice the RAM and wirelessly charging on the 10 Plus.

Glad you got a good refurbished unit on here. I bought an “Amazon Refurbished” Fire HD 8 (2020) on Woot last week (also available today for the same price) and it was definitely not like new. I’m was clearly not used with a case (lots of wear on back) and has approx ten 1/4"-long scratches on the screen. Still usable and worth the price, but I wouldn’t order expecting these to be perfect condition.

If you’re slightly adventurous, there are ways to install the Google Play store on these for a larger app selection.

These are great for controlling smart lights, and even show the front door automatically if you have a Alexa connected doorbell. I know this isn’t the main usage but it’s a great couch side device for those situations

The difference in size if fractional. I don’t notice any increase in speed. Curiosity got the best of me, so I broke out for the Plus.

I will try loading Google Play this time around, so that I am not locked in by Amazon apps.

Back when I was broke, I bought a Nook and did the jailbreak on it. I loved those devices. They were better than the Kindles. When they stopped making those, I used the custom roms or other jailbreak methods on the Kindles so I could do more.

Now that I’ve got a few more bucks and haven’t done that in a while, I was wondering if there was still a fairly active community in all that.

Y’all have heard of reddit right? And at the very least sending each other private messages? But hey, I’m a funky spaceman, count me in too.

LOl, Nintendo secret police are probably looking for me too. I feel the same way about music. No one is replacing the numerous tapes and CD’s that I bought in my youth that were either stolen or damaged through use that no longer function as intended. If it is made difficult or impossible to use a device or media that you paid for, dare I say OWN, then what other recourse is there?

Oh and for anyone that can do such a thing:
MAKE AN OFFICIAL WOOT! APP FOR THE FIRE HD TABLETS AGAIN!!!.
i was shocked to find out that neither of the tablets I purchased recently had the Woot! app loaded and couldn’t download it from the Amazon app store.

I thought Woot! was an Amazon-owned subsidiary?

One would imagine that an Amazon tablet would be able to load the Woot! app

Jailbreak all the Fire Tablets!

That seems to be the only way to partake of an “Appsclusive” on a Fire tablet.

I did jailbreak my last Fire tablet, it was pretty easy. But it still sent all the traffic up thru the Seattle servers…

So I’ve since just switched over to a plain vanilla Samsung tablet.

Those Fire tablets are so inexpensive tho.

So did they send down an antifa strike team to force you into corporate overlord submission? Or did they brick your shiz?

Nope. I think I had to boot to developer mode or something and load a custom ROM onto it.

I needed a regular computer and the data cable to the Fire tablet to do it.

Here’s a sample website. There’s more out there but best to read up if one is rooting.

Is this after they discovered what you did? I’m trying to see the downside.

Honestly, why isn’t there an Virtual Android OS partition hack? Just like running windows on Linux.
