Purchased 2 of these a couple of years ago. They can be time consuming to assemble. They are comfy though, with 3 reclining positions. Some of the wood is splitting in places, most notably the pivot point at the bottom of the chair.
Assembly takes about 30 minutes. I added some wood glue to all mating surfaces except where the chair pivots/rotates and that seems to make them very stable. I also put 6 applications of tung oil on them and they look great. No regrets buying these the last time they were offered here. Would like to see the matching ottoman at a reasonable price.
Bought four of these last time around. Just assembled two weeks ago. Goes together pretty easily. There are little pinholes to guide where the screws go. You must use a drill on low clutch setting to assemble. I also glued all non-movable pieces together which helped with the construction. Staining is a must if they will be outside. I got deck stain and used a power sprayer and that gave good coverage. Downside is these chairs are narrower than most adirondack chairs.
Thanks! If it were a snake it would have bit me. I did find the Ottomans at Ace Hardware for a little less though ($21.99). But I’m in for 4 of the chairs.
If you live in the south with all its humidity and almost daily summer afternoon thunderstorms, it’s just about mandatory for these to be painted with some sort of weatherproof paint.
Mine lasted about three years of being continually exposed before the rot set in especially in the arms rests. Managed to get another few years out of them by sanding the worst of the rot away and repainting.
They’ll do ya fine on a covered porch or patio. Get yourself some Sherwin Williams plastic coat outdoor paint and slap a few coats on to you’ll get some decent years of use.
There’s a learning curve on assembly. First chair took me 45 minutes mainly because the holes were slightly off, but they’re no more difficult than IKEA furniture to put together.
If you don’t mind doing the extra work of painting, these are worth today’s price.
I bought earlier this year, to put together in the spring. They went together fairly well, but they were missing a part, the stringer that goes between the legs in the front. I rigged something out of the extra piece they sent me instead of the correct part, but they were essentially very flimsy. Maybe they would have been better with the missing part instead of the rigged part. There was NO documentation inside the package as to who made it etc. Wife then texted me a pic of the same chair being sold at one of our local discount stores for $16.99. Finally looked at the original woot posting and saw lots of people with the same problem There was a phone number posted there by woot, but by then my wife had sole them to some local woodworker that wanted to take a try at them.
