Gourmet Coffee Cafe Single Serving Coffeemaker with Free Coffee

LOLERZ

Great review!
Can you put a standard tea bag in it? If so, I’ll get it for my spouse.

I gotta buy three of everything to be a woot guy? Wow…I needed to break up with my girlfriend after hearing that

It’s not even vaccumed sealed. Maybe a nice coffee make, But toss the coffee.

That’s ok, you’ll have 3 coffee makers to keep you busy!

it works with 220v for a few seconds, then it stops and the room fills with some sort of electrical smoke smell

I seriously doubt that the coffee is certified kosher. However, depending on “how kosher” you are, as far as I know all coffee is kosher.

Worst comes to worse you could always buy this and use your own kosher coffee (although it sort of is a deal breaker if you can’t use what comes with it).

Hmm… I didn’t try it, but my guess is that it would NOT work. The only machine with which we’ve had any t-bag success is the Bunn MyCafe MCP. Works great. I hope that helps!

Actually quite a lot of coffee is certified Kosher. It’s usually on the bag/box. For me probably 9 out of 10 suppliers are certified KSA Kosher.

I hope that helps! I finally have some expert advice to contribute!

Thanks a lot. Checked out your site. Looks like the flavored sampler 55-61mm would work for this?

These machines don’t use steam… from my recollection the tempurature of the cup produced by this machine was about 180 to 190 F. (Which you’d actually find to be hotter than average, but below the optimum for brewing coffee.)

I’m in for 1. I’m a college student and study late at night almost every night. Hopefully this will be helpful in med school as well! I’m sick of energy drinks.

I had two of the Melita One pod machines before moving up to my Tassimo. The pods for this seem to be the same size as the Melita One ones are, which are a little smaller than the Senseo ones. The Melita pods are harder to find than the Senseo ones, but better IMHO. Target has a good variety under their Archer Farms brand that are more Senseo size but I was able to fit into the Melita.

However, that being said, after getting my Tassimo I would never go back to one of those type pod systems.

And, as someone mentioned before, the pods that come with this system will likely be very stale.

Simple math –

  • Microwave ~ 900-1200 Watts
  • Coffemaker - 1200-1400 Watts.

Even if the coffeemaker would take the exact same time to heat coffee, the microwave would still win. It’s more efficient because at best, it only heats the water, not the container, air around it, etc.

Almost all pods these days are 60mm to 62mm. Only a couple vendors use 55mm. I tried 62mm pods in this machine and it worked pretty well – you just need to stuff em in there and make sure no part of the pod is sticking up and breaking the seal.

Froogle “55mm pod” and there’s a ton of links (lots on ebay) to purchase replacement pods.

But the real question is… Can you put the pods in the microwave???

Thanks again for the quick reply!

FYI… Melitta pods are now about 60mm (they modified them after they lost the standards war). It’s also important to check out pod MASS. The Archer Farms pods at Target are 60mm and 7g of coffee… They make an EXCELLENT cup and I can recommend them as probably the best cheap pod out there. The average coffee drinker will be quite delighted with the Archer Farms pods which are, I think, $4.49 for 16 pods. (I could be wrong on that, but not by too much). 12 varieties I think, including two teas available from them.

“An assortment of 72 coffee and tea pods”

That is not 72 cups of coffee but (perhaps) 54 coffee and 18 tea
or (could be) 60 coffee and 12 tea (etc)

that being said … I think I will get one
